The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, has said Nigeria has what it called “the mineral of the future” that can power electric cars and phones.

Adegbite said this to international investors during one of the investors’ forums at the Mining Conference in Riyadh Saudi, according to a statement by the ministry.

The statement said, “The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, while speaking to a hall full of international investors, said that Nigeria has the mineral of the future that can power electric cars and phones.”

The minister urged the investors to engage in the Nigerian mining sector, describing it as one of the most investor-friendly in the world.

He said some major mining companies started showing interest in the Nigerian mining sector.

According to him, Nigeria intends to auction rights to mine some strategic minerals later this year.

Adegbite said, “We have strengthened governance and transparency in the sector and provided assurance to investors through the upgrade, automation, and decentralisation of the Mining Cadastre Office. We are improving the connectivity between investors and the public with important geological information through the establishment of a Nigeria Geo-Data Centre at the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency.

We don’t have the power to have steady electricity which nothing special in even small African countries lol.

We all thought this administration will do something in the aspect especially when Fashola was appointed as minister of power not knowing he’s actually minister of darkness

One the our politicians don’t have in Nigeria is shame

Mr. Minister are you drunk or mad? Enough mineral resources to power electric cars but not enough to supply electricity to Nigerians.

These people make statements to provoke Nigerians.

Nation of your dreams where at least 500 people are murdered in the North daily?

What a dream.

This man speaks like someone who thinks after talking. A country that can't generate enough electricity for household consumption.

I don't get the connection here, EVs are powered by multiple batteries which I think is being recharged with electricity , I don't get how minerals come Into play here , do EVs run on minerals now ? Or are minerals used in production of EVs?

Nigeria is finished, any of you wishing Atiku, Orji Uzor, Tinubu or their likes takes over this stewardship again will suffer for 900 years.

Let's tell this bastards enough is enough, I saw a video trending online, bags of beans branded with tinubus image, the same beans that's pricy, these people see us as hungry lots and we show it from the way we talk and act.

What do we get in Nigeria, people voting people because of religious, ethnic, or expectational reasons, and it's funny because that's what it's going to happen again, and again.
These guys have studied us, their media teams are reporting to them, they're everywhere online, so be careaful how you assimilate what you read on the Nigerian webspace

There's this particular set of youth in Nigeria I strongly believe in, when the time is right these same youths will take over the nation with blood

Fools!
Nigeria always have everything, but see where it got us.

Potentials without a future. The usual story.
Minister is not ashamed to talk about electric cars when even Aso Rock still budgets hundreds of millions annually for generator fuelling, repairs and maintenance.

The curse of natural resources

Fractional distillation isn't rocket science.
Crude is currently being refined in the ND by illitrates..

The idea of having electric cars is good no doubt but I feel we should take it step by step. We still have abundant gas we can use for cooking and vehicles while we focus on improving the power situation in the country.

We like to muzzle up too many things at a time and end up achieving nothing.. Over 70 percent of China's population still use coal, firewoods etc. despite the call for clean, renewable energy but you don't see the Chinese govt. banning coal like their naive counterparts in Nigeria do.
