PLAYING POLITICS WITH THE DEATH OF YOUNG SOMTOCHUKWU: THE WORST FORM OF WICKEDNESS AND THE CLIMAX OF INSENSITIVITY BY GOVERNOR UZODIMMA AND HIS REGIME

Since after the Otokoto era, another time incessant gruesome and heartless murder of people in cold blood has become rampant in Imo state has been since Chief Hope Uzodimma contentiously assumed governor of the state.

The emergence of the current Imo sheriff marked the unfortunate vanishing of the relative tranquility and peace enjoyed by people of the state, which has now been replaced with endless atrocious stories of assassinations, maiming and kidnapping. Fatality rate is increasing by geometrical progression while the invasion and desecration of place of worship, arson, abduction and ritual killing are all part of the tormenting experiences people are bedevilled everyday in the Eastern heartland state.

The kidnap of the auxiliary Catholic Bishop of Owerri Archdiocese, Bishop Moses Chikwe, kidnap attempt on the Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev Dr Augustine Ukwuoma, the kidnap of a Catholic priest and lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities at the Imo State University, Rev. Prof. Izu Marcell Onyeocha and another Catholic priest, Rev. Fidelis Ekemgba, the murder of the ESN Commander, Kayinayo Andy Nwokike, popularly known as Ikonso, during his sleep, the assassination of Gulak and 5 traditional rulers and the death of many Imo people with over 150 dead bodies purportedly littering the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri are just to mention a few examples of terrifying and horrific cases.

With all these despicable vices going on in the state, it is considered not just disheartening and insulting to the sensibilities of ndimo but a display of high level insensitivity for Governor Uzodimma to want to justify the prevalent iniquity under his watch with the death of an innocent boy, Somtochukwu.

Through Declan Emelumba, his lnformation Commissioner, the Uzodimma-led administration claimed that, the former governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha ordered for the killing of the 11-year old boy during the relocation of Ekeukwu market in Owerri.

People are not buying into this story because they feel that if Okorocha had actually ordered for any killing during the relocation, it makes logical sense that it would not have been that innocent boy.

Assuming without conceding that Okorocha had ordered for that innocent boy to be killed, which defies every logical sense or reasoning, as a responsible and humane governor then, he condoled the Somtochukwu's family, made representative presence during the innocent boy's burial and immortalised him by naming the mother and Child healthcare hospital built by his administration at Ekeukwu market after him.

The crucial questions to ask Governor Uzodimma are:

1. Has he taken any step to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late Ikonso, his kinsman, who was killed by the military he invited to invade Imo state or has he made any effort at immortalising the late ESN Commander?

2. Has he been able to unravel and bring to book the killers of a northern APC Chieftain, Ahmed Gulak and 5 traditional rulers who were gruesomely murdered in Imo under watch as governor of the state?

3. How come over 150 unidentified and unclaimed dead bodies are said to be littering the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri since his emergence?

4. Who killed those people and why are their bodies unidentified and unclaimed if they died of natural cause?

5. Has he been able to unravel and prosecute the killers of these over 150 unidentified and unclaimed dead bodies or at least, condemn their gruesome murder?

6. How come he compensated only families of security agents who died with paltry sum and abandoned innocent people who lost their lives as a result of the insecurity that is ravaging the state since his emergence as governor?

7. Is there any killer squad currently in Imo government house called Hopism Strike Force embarking on the killing spree in the state?

7. Is there any link between the Hopism Strike Force killer squad and the Unknown gunmen in the state?

While Ndimo, Nigerians and the global community are waiting for honest answers to these pertinent questions, the Governor Uzodimma-led regime should understand that it is the worst form of wickedness and the most callous insensitivity to play politics with the unfortunate demise of that innocent young boy whose repose soul should be allowed to rest in peace.

It is my fervent prayer that the Gentle Soul of Somtochukwu continues to rest in peace in the bossom of the LORD and may God almighty continue to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable and irreparable loss. Amen.

OP, both Hope Uzodinma and Rochas Okorocha are the same evil that befell the NDI IMO.

Rochas is responsible for the death of Somtochukwu.
The case of EKEUKWU Owerri was still in court when Richas ordered the demolishion of the market. So he is to be held solely responsible for the death of Somtochukwu.

On the other Hand, Hopless Uzodinma is as useless as Rochas Okorocha to Imo people.
The supreme court insulted the collective responsibility of Ndi Imo by appointing him governor. Ever since then, Imo has become a theatre of war and evil. its just unfortunate.
