You have been christened
with many despicable names
and dressed in disgusting robes
as the virgin morn
got deflowered by the rays
of the rising sun.

In the wake of a new era,
how do I illuminate the illusory darkness
shrouded around you
and keep the ember glowing
on their altar of assumptions?
Just how do I sing
your eulogy?

How do I write about Africa,
the cradle of human civilization?
How do I tell them
Africa is a continent
with beautiful nations
exploited by their forebears?
Just how do I tell them
Africa is not a country?
