PROVIDERS OF SUBSTANDARD FUEL MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, DIRECTS PRESIDENT BUHARI

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that producers and providers of consumable products be held accountable for substandard services and or products sold by them.

The President has also given directives to the relevant government agencies to take every step in line with the laws of the country to ensure the respect and protection of consumers against market abuses and social injustices.

In a reaction to the issue of petroleum product shortages linked to the inadvertent supply of products of foreign origin into the Nigerian market, President Buhari said the protection of consumer interests is a priority of the present administration and is ready to take all necessary measures to protect consumers from hazardous products, loss or injuries from the consumption of substandard goods.

The President directed that in line with the law, service providers must make full disclosure of relevant information with respect to the consumption of their products and that dissatisfied consumers are entitled to a proper redress of their complaints.

We will only know he is serious when the licenses of Oando, MRS and other crooked companies that imported adulterated petrol are withdrawn.

Ethnic bigots.

NNPC stopped independent marketers from importing petroleum products only to lease out the responsibility to companies with affiliation to powerful politicians.

Meanwhile, they will come and be telling us that they are the sole importers of fuel into the country until breeze blow and fowl nyash come outside.

Who is the Minster of Petroleum that shifted the sole importing responsibility from NNPC to these firms? Why can't you accept your responsibility for once? Clueless and incompetent president passing the buck as usual.

Those companies are wicked. They know they don't check for that methanol thing when inspecting the petrol & they deliberately brought it in.
They have really seen Nigeria as a dumping ground.

These events of the past days has really open up the reason why the so called subsidy money has been ballooning lately.

Before now we're meant to believe that NNPC is the sole importer of PMS into the country but, right now other Oil marketers in connivance with some NNPC officials has been importing PMS into the country through the back door and submitting inflated figures for subsidy payments.

NNPC imported the fuel through its own subsidiary Duke Oil. NNPC is the root of the problem, not the distributors
