Obasanjo denies plan to float 'new political party' ahead of 2023 elections
•Tip Peter Obi, Akinwumi Adesina, Kingsley Mohgalu

•Rule out support for Atiku

INDICATIONS emerged weekend that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and some retired army generals are in support of a power shift to the South in 2023.

It was also gathered that the former president, Obasanjo and former generals are disposed to having any of President of the African Development Bank, Mr Akinwumi Adesina; former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi and a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Professor Kingsley Mohgalu, emerge as President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

A close ally of the former president, Obasanjo and some of the generals, who spoke with Vanguard in confidence, however, ruled out the possibility of supporting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 election.

Besides, the source said former National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega, is being favoured to emerge as vice president.

The source said: “He (Obasanjo) supports power shift to the South. The people he has indicated an interest in general and not specifically are Akinwumi Adesina, Peter Obi and Kingsley Moghalu.

”Then in the North, he likes Attahiru Jega (former INEC chairman) to be the running mate. He is not supporting Atiku at all. He supports power-shift.”

All reps/senate encumbrances have been deleted only NEC committee members, president and vice, senate and vice, speaker and vice, and governors are now allowed into congress

Baba as a nationalist will always make sense .. his kinsmen sold him out to North..

But northern will find it hard to sell their own.. one is even bragging how Northerners has made their own Yoruba man useless ..

While IBB Buhari And the rest are still much reverence in the North

Yoruba will always be yoruba people

Any Baba your choice mke sense .. but politcs is dynamic .. for even your own people are slaving for North

Power returns North.

But u are saying Nigerians must vote southern president right ? ... hypocrisy

The east position is simple if you or anyone is saying zone it to the south then it must be zoned to south east within south ... because same equity that demands it being zoned to south also demand it zoned to south east

If not let's kill zoning let everyone compete simple

You are the ones that have a problem. The south east is only advocating for fairness and equity. If anything, it's you tinubu urchins that are talking rubbish and no one is going to support you and your foolish candidate

Shut up, the south east have a right to agitate for the presidency to be zoned to them and that's what anyone who believes in fairness should be supporting.

Did Yorubas vote for PDP when other regions supported Obasanjo to be president twice? Now you want to start turning reasoning upside down just because of the selfish and greedy ambition of tinubu. There are Igbos in every political party in Nigeria, many of the founding fathers of the APC like Ogbonnaya Onu, Okorocha, Ngige, Amaechi e.t.c are from the south east or of igbo origin in the south south in the case of Amaechi so all this argument about Igbos not being involved in APC is complete rubbish. A faction of APGA was one of the legacy parties that founded APC so why should you tinubu urchins be telling us that it's only in PDP that Igbos have a right to contest?

Nonsense, Igbos will contest in every party including the APC and they will win. If it's about the party your region votes for then Obasanjo should never have been president under PDP because you guys were voting for AD then. Are you saying that only the south west and the north should be producing the president because they are the only regions where APC won? You're not making any sense
