APGA AND SOLUDO WHICH WAY?

This article wouldn’t have been in circulation, perhaps until 17th March when the Governor elect would be formally sworn in to manage the affairs of Anambra for a tenure of first four (4) years; but events and body language of the said Governor elect, Professor Charles Soludo had forced us to begin offering him our service as Special Adviser on Inclusive Governance pro bono- even before the party proper.

The signs across Anambra State isn’t a pleasing one since the Governor elect started his after election campaign on what to do and what not to do; he now talks without sensor and would attract to himself unnecessary enemies who may misinterpret his intentions and body language.

Soludo had began issuing threats on how he intends to Govern Anambra State with people across party lines and would only consider original APGA members on pro bono; His list of Transition Committee members is a testament to this fact. Professor Soludo must be reminded that Governance requires a lot of politics, else it will end up a disaster.

Many ndi Anambra are yearning for his Disruptive Change, but such must not come at a great cost worthy enough to raze down the house that provided roof over his head during the rainy days.

We must remind our dear Governor elect that every work man deserves their pay, hence, those who staked their lives as core members of APGA must first be considered as a way of showing appreciation for a job well done. Amongst this many are professionals across all sphere. Academically and otherwise, that’s if he wish to consider only the best heads for his transformational leadership drive in Anambra State.

Our dear Governor must accommodate a little politics to help him transverse the murky waters. Soludo should know that there are party officials, stakeholders and financiers who staked so much, had sleepless nights, fought tooth and nail, betrayed friends, family and had to source loans to make ensure he emerged the Governor elect by all means.

These people made APGA the beautiful bride that allowed Soludo to become Governor elect.

His intentions may be credible and good service to Anambra State, but running along that path without those who held the ladder for him to climb would be a great disservice to the APGA party.

Regardless of his intent on making Anambra an el dorado, substantial part of his appointments must go to the party and those he personally begged to jettison others and support his ambition.

The interest of those who stood their grand against intimidation from the oppositions should not be treated with leprosy fingers or the party that offered him opportunity to serve sacrificed on the altar of Disruptive Change.

Professor Soludo should watch his words and moderate his verbal usage; a leader doesn’t say much in what he intends doing, instead he shows action. Talking will only portray him as opposite to what ndi Anambra voted for and against the social contract that unites APGA and the people.

There’s always a second fight after the first; Soludo must know this truth and do more to keep his soldiers at his grip, beck and call by making them an integral part of his administration.

A jungle will always be a jungle. Politics is what it is.
