uthlaw: That the previous successive governments failed cannot be in contention. They failed and that was why Buhari-Osinbajo became the darling of the people in 2014/15. But looking at the situation of things at the moment that conclude that the Buhari-Osinbajo APC lead government has failed too. 2 Likes |

Nigeria, import capital of the world. If oyinbo had not discovered oil, or built extraction platforms, we'll likely be a poor as Mali or Niger. Na agbaya we be, I swear. Let's see what happens when oyinbo no longer needs our oil. |

olorunthobby: That of 'NEPA' is normal for this time of the year. The harmattan is over and the heat has taken over across the tropics and Sahel full blast so cooling is taking huge chunks out of the grid same time the hydro dams are essentially dry. This has been a recurring pattern for like donkey eared years. Just like the energy sector, we need to decentralise power top to tail, allowing multiple power grids localised and across specific consumption zones so that people can invest at all levels effectively, smartly and productively. This system which is geared towards enriching a few at the expense of the people cannot develop this country. |

uthlaw: Are u justifying the failure of this administration based 9n the failure of it's predecessors? Was it previous administrations that promised in 2015 to fix Nigeria's refineries within one year of coming to power or was it d buhari administration? So where are d refineries? Was it previous administrations that promised in 205 to stop fuel importation or was it buhari? |

LibertyRep: I just do not understand the stupidity when people talk like that. Is it a black thing or what. Such a daft thing to think and say. Then what is the point of elections if you cannot have a better government. What is democracy all about. When people begin to compare and justify the present woes on account of the previous experiences they have voted to change it is a slap on the faces of those who argued, cried, and then fought to effect a new government through the ballot, mocking them that their acts were all in vain. That is bad and corrosive for democracy. No wonder the dwindling voter turnouts in elections ever since. They cannot see the dividends for their mandate and it is all excused away. It is like as manager I am ordered to change a disastrous worker that has nearly bankrupted the company and after a while the situation only gets worse and at summons I have the effrontery to tell Mr. Chairman that the troubles are not new, that it has happened before so it should happen again.... what will become of me the Manager. Walahi some Nigerians need to be sacked from this country. We are THE PROBLEM, not the leaders we employ/elect. And since we cannot rise to demand and supervise to get good government we should not expect a better Nigeria after 2023 because we are not mentally fit to have one, period. Leave them alone. Their sufferings are not enough to wipe sentiment from their empty heads. When the water is hot enough the eba will be made before that it is just garri. |

LibertyRep: Serious question our self praising They embezzle our commonwealth thereby spreading poverty, even mental poverty, such that people are not able to fight for their rights and ask the right questions during elections/campaign. What I feel like whenever I think about the decay in the society, is stoning these set of politicians. They see other countries they travel to, but won't replicate the developmental strides they see, here. How could a farmer harvests yam he did not plant and wishes to eat Pounded Yam, messes up his mortar, then send the yam to a far away farmer colleague to pound for him, the colleague could decide anytime to poison d Pounded Yam, still sells it back to you at exorbitant fee... Let me analyze the nonsense, insensitive and the non economical practices our corrupt leaders engage in in this Petroleum sector to bring pains and agony to the citizenry. This is as much as I know, I may be wrong... The govt pays the miners(say N5) to mine the crude oil(which contains many Petroleum products), sells to outside refiners(say 100), now go back to import finished products, pay for logistics(this is where d rubbish subsidy comes in) and end up spending more than N500, to get the products back to the country, then begins to sell their failures to the citizens at neck breaking prices, the citizens always bear the brunt of their misgovernance. Ordinarily, if we refine our expenses shouldn't have been more than, say N100,and the products would have sold for more than N1000 and even more because we shall be exporting finished products , infact we should be competing with Dubai in growth and developments if we have good leaders/managers... Nigeria is like a butcher's son who could only get tiny bones to eat. We need to come together in unison, all Labour unions, civil society organizations, religious organizations, students unions, NGOs, etc and forge a common front, take a decisive action and demand for good governance. All these piecemeals strikes won't help, it has to be massive, with one voice and workable agenda, with strong requests. If not we'll continue in this squalor and they, in their corruptly acquired status and God would continue to look at us because He won't do for us what we can do for ourselves. But my prayer is that He stirs up a revolution that can bring about the necessary changes we so much desire. Nigeria shall be great! |
