The House of Representatives Committee on Constitutional Amendment has recommended immunity for presiding officers of the National Assembly.

The committee, which presented its report on Wednesday, recommended among other things immunity from prosecution for Senate President, Speaker, Deputy Senate President and Deputy Speaker.

In addition, the immunity clause will also cover judicial officers.

It would be recalled that the committee had earlier stepped down the bill in January but the same committee is recommending the immunity law.

If passed, the lawmakers will also enjoy the immunity that will prevent them from facing prosecution.

It would be recalled that the Governor of Kano State, Umar Guanduje, despite a video of him stuffing cash in his ‘babariga’ has escaped prosecution thus far because of the immunity clause.

Despite the outcry against the bill, lawmakers are moving closer to conferring such privilege on their presiding officers.

This bill was shouted down earlier....but they found a way to smuggle it in. Hopefully, it should be buried.

Are you guys not the ones that keep supporting this government, continue, you guys will see evil and be biased about it because of some reasons best known to you guys, well this is the result, I'm not bothered anymore because I don't see Nigeria as a country anymore, if they like they should grant immunity to their dogs and goats, that's their business because it will not affect me...

These niggas got absolutely no shame.
First of, their counterparts (developing countries) round the world, I don’t think campaigning for immunity is their priority now.

Slow / no visible form of development and all they are bothered bout is immunity.

US / UK, I don’t think their constitution has the clause.

Most times, u c pictures of Pm Boris Johnson on foot going to house of commons.

Buh over here, sirens, escorts upon escorts following Speaker of HOR.

Corruption is already embedded in the fabrics of Nigerians.

Complaining ain’t gon solve nothing, and for those still having hope of a better Nigeria, goodluck with that

Is that not slavery and operation of the citizens ?

Thieves

Nigerians new dawn is coming. Do you know why I am supporting Amaechi, forget that he is from my state that's not it .

But I don't see Tinubu as someone who will stand and change the constitution to serve the people. Wat did he do in Lagos ? He turned the state to his personal Mafia family where his loyalists get all the juicy roles and contracts ..

Imagine MC Oluomo , a tour a thug who can't speak primary school level English as his annouted governor and right hand man. What do your expect from such a person .

Why should law makers enjoy any immunity? Did Tinubu not benefit from this ? Amaechi is on such if he becomes president will remove this law

Amaechi Zulum 2023

I am still wondering how Tinubu allowed his teeth to decay to the extent of it being used as a political attack gismo. If he can allow his own teeth to rotten inside his mouth, what is our chance in this country if he ever became president?
