An Important Bible Verse Most Pastors Don't Teach In Their Churches by Passionnn: 10:04am On Feb 27, 2022
Matthew 21:12-13 NKJV
[12]Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.
[13]And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”

Irrespective of how you may interpret this to suit your craving for materialistic earnings, it is clear that the emphasis of the gospel as preached by our master and saviour, Jesus Christ, never laid emphasis on earthly possession as reward for our service to God.
While it requires christians to give willingly for the promotion of the gospel, it was nevertheless not a guarantee to acquiring everlasting life.
Galatians 5:22, 23 listed the fruits of the Holy Spirit required of every believer.
Consequently, most materialistic preachers have completely ignored the verses quoted earlier as well as similar verses which teaches that the love of money is the root of all evil.
Every christian ought to read his bible to hear the voice of God directly and not over- relying on the twisted interpretations given by business men masquerading as men of God

This passage is playing itself in churches today. You go to some churches you see then selling things in front of the church door.it is very wrong but the pastors won't preach about.

"Thou shalt not countenance (spoil) a poor man, in his course." Verse 3.

"Thou shalt not wrest (wrestle or spoil) the judgement of the poor in his cause."

People are very very guilty of this. Yet they would not teach it.

You didn't understand what you quoted and shared. Verse 12 says "those who bought and sold in the temple". Now, how many churches have you seen buying and selling in the house of God? I mean inside the church. The bible never said those who bought and sold outside the temple.
Kindly read with understanding before you conclude.

I totally understand your explanation. But, don't you think it's too shallow? Evidence abound regarding the commercialisation of the church today. Besides churches engaging in business ventures, there is high emphasis laid on financial donations to the church as a precondition for receiving God's blessings.
Pastors often preach conflicting sermons in a bid to make members donate more. Sometimes, what you see in churches is disgusting. How it worships those with money and look down on the poor greatly contradicts how Jesus commended a poor widow's offering. I attended a church service where the pastor told the congregation that you can't give one hundred naira offering and expect a blessing of one million naira.

Money is not our problem, it's preaching and teaching from house to house that's announced as if the person is Jesus the second! smiley

Your last sentence is 100% correct. I know that giving is a personal understanding but let's look at it logically forget scriptures. Can N100 feed you comfortably for a day? When people give to the church/pastor they think it is magic to reap millions. You cannot plant a tuber of yam and expect to reap a barn of yams. This is simple logic. In a church for instance, the seat you sat did it appear by magic? the ceiling fan or AC in the church did it appear by magic? The titled floor you kept your feet did it appear by magic? The sound system on which you were able to hear the pastor, did it also appear by magic? People like you and I made it happen so you feel comfortable in the house of God. If you think pastors are not doing a good job, please open your own ministry and make a difference.

This is my own ministry: to help people get a clear understanding of what God really wants from us. The money you give to the church will either help it grow or expand the pastor's business. Simple.

It is improper to use human logic to interpret divine wisdom. God never expects uniform payment from all his children, hence He asked the Israelites to pay tithes- a tenth of your income. Don't forget that income varies from month to month and from person to person. Jesus specially commended the poor widow, not because she offered the most, but because of what percentage her giving represent in her life.

My friend the temple or church is no longer the house of God, so buying and selling is allowed. Even if it is done right in the pulpit that one nor concern God again.
The most important thing that concern God is to give your life to Christ, at that point you are now the temple, not any rubbish building.

Una too like building…
And pastors too
