Ahead of the Presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; there are indications that the leadership of the party is considering a quartet of Governors Nyesom Wike, Bala Mohammed, Aminu Tambuwal, Udom Emmanuel, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Rivers, Bauchi, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom and Enugu states respectively to vie for the sole ticket for the 2023 Presidential poll.

Vanguard gathered that though the various layers of leadership in the party including the National Working Committee, NWC; National Executive Committee, NEC; Board of Trustees, BoT, among others have counselled on the need for a thorough consultation before picking a Presidential candidate, the governors are gradually winning the argument to have one of them fly the party’s ticket in the 2023 poll.

Only recently, governors of the 36 states under the auspices of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, declared support for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and the PDP to pick their candidates from among the governors.

Sources within the NGF hinted recently that the state governors have reached a consensus that one of them, regardless of the party, should emerge as the next President of the country, following their insistence that state governors possess the knowledge and experience to salvage the country.

Vanguard gathered that the development is partly the reason governors are bent on controlling party structures in their respective states.

“I can tell you that the governors of the 36 states have reached a consensus that one of them should emerge as the next President of the country.

“The governors have been meeting and consulting on producing the Presidential candidates of both the APC and the PDP and the consultations have reached very advanced level. In a matter of days, the governors will make a formal declaration in this direction”, an NGF source had said.

Should the governors have their way, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius may have their ambitions threatened owing to the growing influence of sitting governors.

On the other hand, the aspiration of Wike, Emmanuel, Tambuwal, and other governors would be off to a good start, until the party takes a position on zoning.

Wike is championing a Southern Presidency, a cause that may earn him the ticket especially if he succeeds in convincing Emmanuel and Ugwuanyi to step down for him. Atiku and Tambuwal are however insisting that the race be thrown open to ensure that the most popular, regardless of ethnicity emerges to battle the APC for the soul of Nigeria.

The PDP is expected to take a position on zoning in a forth night as the clamour for power rotation gets more intense for the day.

I'm 100% sure PDP will never gives her presidential ticket to Gov Wike.
He's too controversial to be the president.

One should know their performance at state level as Governors before coming here to praise them.
It will be disastrous to have any of these as President in Nigeria.
Anybody who can't perform as Governor has no business going to even Senate undecided

If Wike can only emerge by narrowing down the stakes then he is not confident and fit to be President. We want a free for all Southerners, let the best and most fit be picked. shocked

My major concern is the masses who've refused to receive sense. When it's time for election, we allow these politicians to let us vote based on ethnic and religious grounds, some even sell their votes with no sight of the big picture.

It's high time people realise that these politicians don't care about you

They deceive and divide you based on religious and ethnic grounds, but they Unite at the top to milk the country dry

Now that there's fuel scarcity , you won't see specific fuel stations for APC or PDP supporters, neither would they give you fuel because you're a Christian or a Muslim .

Whether you vote good or bad leaders, na everybody go hear am
ASUU Strike all their children are abroad getting quality education , you that voted based on ethnoreligious ground is at home, no special school for you that's Christian, Muslim, APC or PDP supporter

Una must receive sense by Force

Wike as President for 3 months would absolutely wipe the floor with what your lifeless mentor has done in 8 years.
Wike's capital projects have outperformed that of every single APC Governor from Yahaya Bello who couldn't even pay civil servants salary to the bigot midget El Rufai who pays bandits to murder his own people.

Have several seats.

The Governors are too powerful, they may hold the country to ransom, they behave as if they are gods, something must be done! If one of them now becomes the president, this may become the culture, it's not good for our democracy, they must be dissolved.

But the national assembly and the president have a role to play here.Governors power in their respective states should be reduced to the nearest minimum;
(1)give autonomy to both the states houses of assemblies and the judiciaries,
(2) the governor and the speaker or the majority leader as the case may be should be the leader of their political parties,
(3) delegates to vote at primaries should not be handpicked by the governor Or let primaries be by direct .

Less than a year and these parties are still shy to produce their candidates.

Is it that they perceive Nigerians are now wiser with the experiences of the current administration, or the politicians are using more time to perfect their next deceitful and economy-ravaging scheme?

Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi should never be on that list, he is the most useless PDP governor in the South

Man did absolutely nothing in Enugu to deserve that

He will be another Goodluck Jonathan or even worse

There is only one name to consider from South East PDP and that is Peter Obi
