Irrelevant.
Without oil and gas earnings, you won't be using a smartphone.

Countries without oil use smartphones, eg where I am now

It goes beyond just talk, Nigeria does not have the necessary infrastructure with which to ramp up gas production and supply within such a short time interval!

That is why they are calling for investment to "ramp up the gas production and supply" for use domestically, and in Europe

Sylva is ever ready to execute but the issue is investment.
But now that Europe is being held by the throat, they will more likely
take an investment risk in Nigeria.

Nigeria is too far away, libya is nearer, algeria is nearer, norway is in europe, they must settle with syria,so pipe can pass syria and pay that country ,settle with russia and dont expand to the east and allow nord stream 1 and nordstream 2..These ones will share the money.

Nigerians must resist such an investment.... they will then hv a grip on the country and will fight to hv leaders who protect their interests....

Europe need immediate alternative. Your minister is talking about investing in gas production as an alternative, above all calling of the same Europe to do the investment grin grin. Even Qatar that is currently investing in almost 32mtpa can't easily substitute Russia.

We have more gas than oil.
uncleck:
I wonder why successive governments in Nigeria have refused to create wealth from already existing natural resources we have. We have oil in abundance, why can't we create wealth by refining it? We have abundant gas reserve, why is there still scarcity of gas? We have gold, why do we still import gold at high price? Do we need to wait for foreigners to invest in our gas exploration before we start making money from it?

This Russia-Ukraine conflict should be a perfect avenue for Nigeria to earn a lot of FOREX by selling oil at higher price, but unfortunately, whatever we make will still be used in paying subsidy because we can't refining our oil. If we had invested in gas exploration, by now most EU members would have turned to Nigeria...

Actually, there is no grip, at least, on Nigeria.
Europe is the one on the edge. That's why Nigeria can make this offer.
Russia is the major supplier to Europe. If Europe goes against Putin, he would retaliate by cutting off the supply

Stick with insulting your political enemies.

You sound hurt. Is it now wrong to suggest a veritable source of income for our beloved country?

By the way, who are my political enemies? Can u remind of a discussion we had where I told I have political enemies & where I insulted anyone?

What I'm saying is if the western European uncivilized savages make an investment of $1billion in Nigeria it means they own the natural gas refinery partly...that's what investment means.... with such an investment they now have a say in the politics of the country.... its colonial....

France and eu is known for doing unspeakable things to Africa leaders who refuse to their bidding e.g. if Nigeria now wants eu to divest from the natural gas refinery they will refuse and want regime change in Nigeria.... that's a problem mali is currently facing....

“In the last 10 years, over $70 billion worth of investments came to Africa, but sadly less than $4 billion came to Nigeria.

WHY? No sane person will invest in an environment characterised by:
*Instability
*Insecurity
*Insincerity
*Inefficiency
*Inordinate Ambition
*Infighting
*Corruption
*Incorrigibility

These guys really amazes me, they mentioned Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline project but they didn't state from which region is the gas coming from? Definitely, it's from eastern region, anything from the east is always a coded matter. Smh

Seems one or two people are seeing the bigger picture and room for profitability.

Although, Russia has Europe by the balls with that 40% of supply of gas they do there. Europe will be disorganized should Russia turn off the pipes, Russia's investment in infrastructure to Easy logistics of gas is what is saving her.

Over here we have out country telling the EU to invest in our gas so we can supply them. Too bad our refineries are in ruins, we should be cashing out again big time.

Plus there's something eerily prophetic about this war, it seems it's effect has a ripple worldwide compared to previous ones.

Anyways, I think America will be the king that loses his crown, they were not really part of the 10 toes/10 Kings.

If Nigeria is a serious country that invest in oil/petroleum technologie this would have been a good opportunity to cut deeper in the European gas market and upstage a share of Russian supply, BUT the first paragraph of the article already defeated Nigeria's capability and capacity to compete at any level, they want the EU to invest in gas exploration first TO BE ABLE to compete, the same begging theatre, incompetence and unserious attitude of Nigerian officials.
