Bro, I have used the 09 Honda Civic American Spec for over 2 years now, never have i experienced this leg issues you are talking about. You cld say so for the older Honda series.

OP avoid 08-10 corolla, if you don't like 06/07, just go to sugar light 2011 to 2013.

08-10 are more prone to engine issues than it's formers and latter.

totally disagree with this opinion, it depends on the car model year,NOT every Toyota is better than Honda.. Far from it,I own a corolla also.

Be sure of the civic you are referring to because I think the 2010 corolla is a step above the 2011 i-robot civic but the next generation 2012 civic is a fine choice. It's more official and I'd prefer that 2012 civic to the facelifted 2011 corolla model even still.

1. Engine reliability (slightly)
2. Less likely to be stolen
3. Interior aesthetics
4. Fuel economy (slightly)
5. Passenger comfort
6. High-tech features
7. Acceleration response (slightly)
8. Steering response
9. Net engine power (slightly, @ 140 vs 132 horsepower)
10. Engine quietness


COROLLA
1. Overall ease of maintenance
(slightly)
2. Ground clearance
3. Cost of non-routine parts
4. Availability of parts
5. Overall ruggedness
6. Second hand value
7. Availability of sound mechanics (slightly)
8. Overall safety (slightly)
9. Passenger cabin space (slightly)

MY ADVICE:
For private use go for the Civic; for commercial use go for the Corolla.

Honda Civic does not have the joint issues common to Honda cars. Especially the ones from 2002 upward. Both cars are almost the same in terms of efficiency, let your taste and/or picket decide for you but they are both good cars
