A North Texas man who recently moved to Florida was found stabbed to death in a Miami condo over the weekend, police said.

Police responded to One Paraiso Residences, a luxury condominium building in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood, shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday and found 27-year-old Christian Obumseli, who had been stabbed once.

He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and later died, police said.

A woman who police said was Obumseli’s girlfriend had called 911 to report the incident. The woman, whose name was not released, was detained and taken to a mental institution, police said.

Police said there was a physical altercation between Obumseli and his girlfriend before he was stabbed.

Family members told WFOR-TV that Obumseli had recently moved to Miami with his girlfriend.

Public records and Obumseli’s social media accounts show he was from North Texas and was a graduate of Plano East Senior High School and Texas Tech University.

A GoFundMe page that was set up by a family member described him as having “an infectious smile that could light up any room.”

“Christian was extremely compassionate with a desire always to uplift those around him,” the page says. “He did not deserve for his life to be cut short by a heinous act of violence.”

Obumseli’s 28th birthday would have been next week.

Police are investigating the incident, and no additional information was available.
