The 'flashing' Trend In Nigeria, Doing Bad Or Good? by Nobody: 7:13am On Jul 06, 2011 |
To be Candid this would be one of the most amusing topics or Question per say to be asked both on Nairaland and elsewhere. Its obvious a good number of Nigerians are into this act dubbed 'flashing' which simply implies Dailing a number from ur cellphone and cutting the call at its instant ring, very funny if you may ask me. Unlike in other parts of the world, 'flashing' have been widely recognised in Nigeria [all thats left is to pass it into law] and also been reciprocated well by recipients. Having Influential Men practising this act is the most eyesoreing part of the whole tale since its obvious they are not hindered from making calls with the money they have. Arguably, 'flashing' have helped many Nigerians who seem not to recognise the importance of recharging their phones, having 50kobo in ur phone will surely get u alerting a recipient u wish to call and with u still holding on to it for a nearby future. On the other hand, the trend 'flashing' have emersely dent the gentleman image of most Nigerians, just imagine yourself been widely known as 'The flasher'! Lol, thats no doubt a shame to carry along. And this menance which propelled me droping this thread is the of lately assumption of the 'flashing' strategy by my younger brother to alert me [he wouldn't do foreign call] of which i must call back to know whats up erians who seem not to recognise the importance of recharging their phones, having 50kobo in ur phone will surely get u alerting a recipient u wish to call and with u still holding on to it for a nearby future. Just tell you bro to stop flashing and call you. I'm not really bothered by the flashing as i WILL NOT call back especially if you are not my brother/sister or parents, and even then. . .calling back will depend on my mood. So this flashing doesn't reduce the money in your phone right? |

All null and void if that is supposed to mean the opposite to me. You're the only one who's friends with 190 since you seem to know his moves. Must be something with the water growing up. All fried synapses. |

This should not be in the front page. |
Re: The 'flashing' Trend In Nigeria, Doing Bad Or Good? by kandiikane(m): 12:57am On Jul 07, 2011 |
I agree with tyche, this should not be front page. If you don't want to be flashed simply tell the person not to flash and is it by force to call back? |

Re: The 'flashing' Trend In Nigeria, Doing Bad Or Good? by nadneth: 4:56am On Jul 07, 2011 |
To be frank, flashing can be very annoying especially when it is done by someone you know can very well afford to call you. There was a number that kept flashing me for a long time and i decided to call, behold it was a friend during my Uni days in Naija, telling me how he got my number from another friend, that he is now a big boy in Abuja blah blah blah, and i was like WTF! You can imagine how pissed off i was throughout that day! |

kandiikane: Tyche: Oops! Never knew it was goin to make the font page even with the typo errors up there, anyway i think the MODs in their utmost intelligence considered the topic one that would create awareness, enlightenment and Opinions. . . So if u guys are in Nigeria i stil deem it imperative for u to partake in the discussion as to know if u're on the right track by flashing or not. *cheers* |

Re: The 'flashing' Trend In Nigeria, Doing Bad Or Good? by dfanthom(m): 7:40am On Jul 07, 2011 |
i believe that flashing should be a thing of the past now! call rates have really crashed unlike what we used to have from the telcos! any1 caught flashing should be flogged & told to sit out in the sun for @ least 3hours. however, some people are recalcitrant & professional flashers!!! |

Ever heard of hyperflash? That's like a half-ring! Solution: Set cell to 'snare mode'. Works like a charm. Catches even the lowest denominational prey. Heh. The good thing about snaring hyperflashes is that it improves reflexes. |
