Many regard the bible as the infallible word of God, I regard it as a book written by man for his personal agenda. The Bible is an unreliable authority because it contains numerous contradictions. Logically, if two statements are contradictory, at least one of them is false. The biblical contradictions therefore prove that the book has many false statements and is not infallible.

Examples of Old Testament Contradictions
The contradictions start in the opening chapters of the Bible, where inconsistent creation stories are told. Genesis chapter 1 says the first man and woman were made at the same time, and after the animals. But Genesis chapter 2 gives a different order of creation: man, then the animals, and then woman.

Genesis chapter 1 lists six days of creation, whereas chapter 2 refers to the “day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.” Genesis 1:2-3 claims that God created light and divided it from darkness on the first day; but Genesis 1:14-19 tells us the sun, moon, and stars weren’t made until the fourth day.

Chapter 1 reports that the fruit trees were created before the man, while chapter 2 indicates they were made after him. Genesis 1:20 says the fowl were created out of the waters; Genesis 2:19 alleges they were formed from the ground.

Contradictions are also seen in the biblical story of a worldwide flood. According to Genesis 6:19-22, God ordered Noah to bring “of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort . . . into the ark.” Nevertheless, Genesis 7:2-3 relates that the Lord ordered Noah to take into the ark the clean beasts and the birds by sevens, and only the unclean beasts by twos.

Genesis 8:4 reports that, as the waters of the flood receded, Noah’s ark rested on the mountains of Ararat in the seventh month. The very next verse, however, says the mountaintops could not be seen until the tenth month.

Genesis 8:13 describes the earth as being dry on the first day of the first month. But Genesis 8:14 informs us the earth was not dry until the twenty-seventh day of the second month.

The Old Testament contains an interesting contradiction in the story of the census taken by King David and the resulting punishment of the Israelites. God was so angered by the census that he sent a plague that killed 70,000 men. According to II Samuel 24:1, the Lord had caused David to take the census – which makes the punishment appear even more nonsensical. But an attempt was later made, at I Chronicles 21:1, to improve God’s image by claiming that Satan incited the census.

Further, the Old Testament is contradictory as to whether the Lord commanded the Israelites to sacrifice animals to him. At Jeremiah 7:22, God denies he ever gave the Israelites commandments about animal sacrifices. In contrast, Exodus 29:38-42 and many other verses depict God as requiring the Israelites to offer animal sacrifices.

Examples of New Testament Contradictions
In the New Testament, there are contradictions between the genealogies of Jesus given in the first chapter of Matthew and the third chapter of Luke.

Both genealogies begin with Jesus’ father, who is identified as Joseph (which is curious, given that Mary was supposedly impregnated by the Holy Ghost). But Matthew says Joseph’s father was Jacob, while Luke claims he was Heli. Matthew lists 26 generations between Jesus and King David, whereas Luke records 41. Matthew runs Jesus’ line of descent through David’s son Solomon, while Luke has it going through David’s son Nathan.

The story of Jesus’ birth is also contradictory. Matthew 2:13-15 depicts Joseph and Mary as fleeing to Egypt with the baby Jesus immediately after the wise men from the east had brought gifts.

But Luke 2:22-40 claims that after the birth of Jesus, his parents remained in Bethlehem for the time of Mary’s purification (which was 40 days, under the Mosaic law). Afterwards, they brought Jesus to Jerusalem “to present him to the Lord,” and then returned to their home in Nazareth. Luke mentions no journey into Egypt or visit by wise men from the east.

Concerning the death of Judas, the disloyal disciple, Matthew 27:5 states he took the money he had received for betraying Jesus, threw it down in the temple, and “went and hanged himself.” To the contrary, Acts 1:18 claims Judas used the money to purchase a field and “falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.”

In describing Jesus being led to his execution, John 19:17 recounts that he carried his own cross. But Mark 15:21-23 disagrees by saying a man called Simon carried the cross.

As for the crucifixion, Matthew 27:44 tells us Jesus was taunted by both criminals who were being crucified with him. But Luke 23:39-43 relates that only one of the criminals taunted Jesus, the other criminal rebuked the one who was doing the taunting, and Jesus told the criminal who was defending him, “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.”

Regarding the last words of Jesus while on the cross, Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34 quote Jesus as crying with a loud voice, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Luke 23:46 gives his final words as, “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.” John 19:30 alleges the last words were, “It is finished.”

There are even contradictions in the accounts of the resurrection – the supposed event that is the very foundation of the Christian religion. Mark 16:2 states that on the day of the resurrection, certain women arrived at the tomb at the rising of the sun. But John 20:1 informs us they arrived when it was yet dark. Luke 24:2 describes the tomb as open when the women arrived, whereas Matthew 28:1-2 indicates it was closed. Mark 16:5 declares that the women saw a young man at the tomb, Luke 24:4 says they saw two men, Matthew 28:2 reports they saw an angel, and John 20:11-12 claims they saw two angels.

Also in the resurrection stories, there are contradictions as to the identity of the women who came to the tomb,[7] whether the men or angels the women saw were inside or outside the tomb,[8] whether the men or angels were standing or sitting,[9] and whether Mary Magdalene recognized the risen Jesus when he first appeared to her.[10]

As a final example of a New Testament contradiction, the conflicting accounts of Paul’s conversion can be cited. Acts 9:7 states that when Jesus called Paul to preach the gospel, the men who were with Paul heard a voice but saw no man. According to Acts 22:9, however, the men saw a light but didn’t hear the voice speaking to Paul.

The foregoing examples are just a few of the hundreds of contradictions contained in the Old and New Testaments. Each contradiction is an instance where at least one of the verses is wrong. Thus, hundreds of contradictions mean there are at least hundreds of incorrect statements in the Bible.

I am quite sure that 99.999% if not 100% of these apparent “contradictions” are explainable.

I can tell that you embellished and exaggerated just by looking up by the first few lists of contradictions that you gave.

Additionally, YOU CANNOT WRITE OFF AS CONTRADICTION THINGS YOUR SIMPLE MIND CANNOT COMPREHEND.

If It makes you sleep at night to dismiss the GOD of the bible, however that sleep is not restfully. Repent! And believe in the one who died for your sins. Leave all these long stories alone.

Since there is a contradiction, that the stories was not a fiction... It actually happened... But stories been told by two different people will always have a personality effect... Which changes some lines... But the end Will always be same

I knew it; I went thru all your apparent contradiction and as I suspected, they are easily explained.

First off, you have to understand that biblical account is from different persons' perspective and as such, people will report from different angle/sides. You have to put the different accounts together to form a complete picture of what happened.

1. Genesis account: Genesis 1 and 2 do not give different accounts. Genesis 2:20 only tells that it was Adam who named animals AFTER animals had been created; this not telling of another order of creation. It also stated there was no mate like and for him, then vs 21-22, lays out that Eve was then created. This does not mean it was Adam, animals, Eve.
-Same principle with creation of light vs darkness. On the first day, it tells us that what God did with the light he would create on 4rth day. He separated "generic" light from dark. Then, on 4th day, HE then made the sun, moon as the "light" he spoke about on 1st day. Simple.
-Man was created last in order of creation and beasts were formed from ground period. Full stop. Gen 1:20 only indicates that birds flew above waters NOT that they were made out of waters.
-Noah was ordered to bring a pair of ALL living creations. Also in addition to bring in clean beasts by 7s and unclean by 2s. You see, let's assume that most living creations are unclean, then there was a special order to take 7 of clean beasts male/female in addition. No contradiction there.
-Genesis 8 says that the waters receded and Noah's ark rested on the mountains on the 7th but the mountains were not fully seen until the 10th. How is this a contradiction? The water started receding on the 7th month and finally receded such that the whole of mountain can be seen on the 10th month. Again, how is this a contradiction?!

2. 2 Samuel vs. 1 Chronicles: it helps to understand why the LORD was angered. David was trusting in his warriors rather than GOD. God wanted to punish Isreal so by HIS providence HE allowed Satan to deceive David into taking census. GOD ALLOWED SATAN, THEREFORE IT WAS BOTH CORRECT. GOD ALLOWED SATAN. SATAN ACTED, HOWEVER GOD ALLOWED. This is not a contradiction.

3. Jeremia 7 vs Exodus: Jeremia 7 does not say GOD didn't command Sacrifices, it is saying that GOD did not give them special command "regarding" sacrifices, except that they OBEY HIS VOICE and KEEP HIS COMMANDEMENTS. Please read well before jumping to conclusion.

4. Matthew vs Luke re: geneology: BTW: there are more than one people named Joseph, it should be common sense, but I guess not. Anyway, Matthew focused on Jacob (Joseph’s forefathers side) as the ancestor while Luke focused on Heli (Mary’s forefathers side). Note: Joseph is “son” (in law) of Heli by marriage. Matthew focused on only 27 forefathers and Luke being the detailed personality that he was listed ALL 42 generations. So that means, there were truly 42 generations before Christ. This means that there are forefathers that Matthew skipped that Luke listed. This would make sense for why discrepancies in the forefathers listed between the two authors.
- Luke mentions no journey to Egypt because Luke did, duh. Gosh. Must they all tell the same thing. It makes for interesting story to get the different Angles, does it not? Synthesis: After 40 days, they fled to Egypt. "Immediately" is irrelevant and open to interpretation.

5. Matthew vs. Acts re Judas: Put the two stories together. Judas bought the field with the blood money, then when he was remorseful, collected the money back to return it. When he could not return it, he threw it down in the temple. He went and hung himself, and when he died, his guts split open and his bowls spilled. SIMPLE.

6. John vs. Mark re: the cross: Jesus carried his cross some of the way to the Calvary, then a man named Simon helped him along the way. Simple.

7. Matthew vs Luke crucifixion: It's simple. Both were initially taunting him, but one went too far to say "are you not Christ", save yourself. And, the other must have gotten some sense and dialed back the taunting and said "remember me LORD"....Very simple.

8. Mathew vs Mark vs. Luke vs John on account of resurrection: again, put them together to form a complete story. The women went to the tomb while it was still dark, though the sun was still starting to rise. The tomb initially closed off, then an angel rolled it back just as they approached the tomb. There were 2 angels (men to Luke), one sat on the rock, the other inside the tomb. Also, in the tomb was a man sitting (Christ) who they did not recognize initially, but after he had spoken to them, they were enlightened and recognised Christ. Very simple.

9. Acts account of Apostle Paul's conversion: It's simple. They men accompanying Paul saw a bright light, but they did not see anyone in it. That They heard a voice Does not imply that they understood what was being said. It's pure common sense. DO YOU UNDERSTAND EVERY VOICE (NOICE) THAT YOU HEAR?!

GOD ALLOWED SATAN. SATAN ACTED, HOWEVER GOD ALLOWED. Satan is still under GOD and cannot do anything without HIS consent. Remember this.

This is not a contradiction.

Lack of understanding of simple English may be the problem, but I suspect it's the Spirit of AntiChrist that is causing this mis-reading of simple English Language.

Contradiction explained. Case closed. Christ is LORD. The Bible is indeed supernatural and ITS author is the Living GOD.

I will certainly not be able to give explanation to all the so called contradictions pointed out because of time. But let me say a few of them here

Concerning the creation story. The man and the woman were created the same day. They existed in the realm of the spirit. But it was the body of the man that was formed first before that of the woman.

Concerning the separation of the night and day. This also is a spiritual separation. The sun and the moon was created to effect the separation in the physical.

Let me stop here for now. I will comment on others as time will permit me.

What do you expect from a record that is thousands of years. Most Christians are not disturbed by these discrepancies because they understand the message. This was a record written by dozens of authors and passed along for centuries. Errors are bound. Still it has blessed the lives of millions.

The only testable proof God presented as evidence for any honest hearted and sincere researcher has been condemned by so called Bible believers so how are they going to silence critics of the Bible?

Well if you want to know the truth about God it's not just by reading books alone because books could be the handiwork of fabricators who has hidden agenda. So think like an intellectual the question everyone should be asking is:

What is the testable proof that a book was inspired by the Creator?

Then place all these books under scrutiny using the same criteria i'm 100% sure that only the Bible will come out victoriously while others will become worthless.

Thanks! smiley

As I have shown you Truth lives in direct evidence and hearsay evidence is 98% bad evidence and inadmissible. And all the reports of Sumerian things are hearsay evidence.

There is a original copy of it, and it’s the oldest written text in history. Is there a original copy of the Bible?

Guy you're not ready for intellectual talks!

It's not a must that you listen to all the Gods in the world before you know the Creator.

Out of all the Gods ever heard of throughout the whole world only the Bible God foretold {Malachi 3:16} and ordered His worshipers to go out and start what you're trying to do now which is reasoning with your neighbours on matters having to do with Godliness! Matthew 10:11-13; 24:14; 28:18-20

And to confirmed that He is the Creator who can promise and fulfill His promises the God of the Bible referred to all other Gods as blind, maim, deaf and paralyzed {Psalms 115:4-7} He even said those trusting (believing) in those Gods will become as handicap as their Gods.

So where are the Witnesses of those Gods if they truly exist? smiley

the funny thing is that I have notice that religion has made people lazy and close minded and afraid to research for the truth beyond their believe with what I have got to understand is that all religion and religious text have some truth in it and not 100% truth because the people who wrote them write base on their own view point, understanding of God and their own level of consciousness and for any person who want to grow spiritually must be ready to research and read several books and create a path for them self because spirituality is a personal journey of the soul back to the devine or All or cosmic mind which people call God
