We have this pattern of always blaming our problems on illiteracy and this is unfair to many poor illiterates...

Anybody who studies the history of violence all over the world will see that it is not usually headed by illiterates but by very educated people, (not just educated people but people in the Art department)...

The Nazis in germany were not illiterates, same way Karl Marx, Stalin were not illiterates, Osama Bin Laden was not an illiterate, but does that mean they were good people?

Here in Nigeria, cultism originated in the universities a place with educated people, Shekau is not an illiterate, many of the corrupt leaders are not illiterates...

As for UGM Simon Ekpa is not an illiterate a very qualified lawyer, someone you expect to know better...

The irony is that while we expect many if these educated people to know better, many of them eventually begin to see themselves as gods and they feel 'because I'm a good lawyer that somehow makes me a good economics and capable of fixing the country:..
Or
'because I'm a famous celebrity that makes me qualified to make opinions on issues I don't understand'

But all the examples of educated people doing very stupid things have not really convinced anybody, people still blame all crimes on illiteracy and still believe literates can do no wrong...

In conclusion, we need to start scrutinizing some educated people in this country, just because a person is a good lawyer, does not make him good in every thing else, even in law there are some specific things he might not be good at, this habit of worshipping educated people has only created more tyrants for us.

Peace.

These educated people use illiterates to perpetrate their crime. The front line pawns in the crime committed by these literates are mostly illiterates.
If the illiterates are educated there's no chance of the educated one using them. Because everyone would know what the other knows and no one could be lied to or decieved
Therefore literacy & education of everyone is very good for Nigeria and also very very urgent if the country will continue.

No, they use other educated people like themselves to carry out their atrocities...
Also observe the girl burnt in sokoto was not burnt by illiterates.

NO.
ILLITERACY IS MISCHIEVOUS ANYTIME ANY DAY.
ILLITERACY MAKES NORTHERN GOVERNORS SAY THEY DON'T LIKE RESTRUCTURING BECAUSE IT WILL REDUCE THEIR ALLOCATIONS.
THE DEVIL IS A LIAR. A FAILURE AND AN ILLITERATE.

THIS GOVERNMENT RECEIVED PLENTY OF ABACHA LOOT.
WE BEGGED THE GOVERNMENT TO SHARE THE LOOTS RETURNED EQUALLY TO OUR 36 CONSTITUTIONAL STATES WITH A BLUE PRINT FOR RANCHING INDUSTRIES WHICH WE MAY EVEN CALL "BUHARI RANCHES" IN THE VARIOUS STATES.

No
For example, some are undergraduates with jamb score of 100 because of federal character in getting admission and because he had some uneducated teachers in primary/secondary school too who went to school not on merit but because of affirmative action in federal character..

An educated rable rouser cannot lie to anybody if everyone is educated.
To destroy a country you destroy her education.

Very correct!
More than half of the mobs have below average jamb score but got admission not on merit but on the basis of "federal character".
"F.C." is a term defined in the Constitution of Nigeria such that you're more predisposed to getting admission into a university in Imo or Jos if your dad dead or alive is a native of the state or a state in the same "region" than you're predisposed by merit.

So it means that your tribe matters more than meritocracy.

This breeds a solid unbreakable cycle of illiterates in economically disadvantaged regions.

Interesting take, but I think most people are smarter than given credit for, Hitler for example tried to run for election in germany but he lost, for him to gain power he had to rely on the intellectuals because the common people (the illiterates) wouldn't vote for him, the same goes for Lenin, Stalin and other brutal dictators, they usually don't have the support of the majority.
Most of the supporters of Boko Haram are not illiterates, the underwear bomber - Umar Farouk was not an illiterate yet he still tried to blow himself up.

Just because a person is an illiterate does not mean they are easy to manipulate.

This is true, but how do you explain the fact that most federal universities are usually filled with cultists, cultism itself started in University of Ibadan which was the most prestigious uni in Nigeria at the time.

That it is also not easy to deceive some illiterates does not mean that illiteracy is good for a country.
There's no syllogism or factual connection between what u just said and the topic here.
Educating everyone is in the best interest of the elite and everyone who desires prosperity.

I can see his logic, the kind of education majority of Nigerians have is useless... To be frank it'll be more satisfying living in an uneducated Nigeria than the type of Nigeria where a majority of the population will have the Nigerian education.

My point is not that education is bad, education is good as long as people stay within their respective fields but in Nigeria we place educated people on a very high pedestal this allows them to stray from their fields without getting much scrutiny or criticism and this always results in disaster.

The cultism at that time wasn't the bloody thirst, dangerous ones we have now.. It was when even Tom, Dick and Harry were allowed in that was when illiterates started entering now cultism became bad
