Neither of them is faring any better

The rouble is holding up against the dollar but Russia cannot do business in dollar.so it will affect nothing like a sky rocking inflation that is hitting both Russia and the west.

As long as inflation in both Russia and the west is running up and up.
Both economies will be pushed to ......
Which is a traditional outcome of prolong war

Inflation is actually slowing down in Russia but increasing in the west.

Inflation has slowed down in Russia hence the slashing of rates there. Meanwhile, we are raising rates here and it is not even enough. We are now in recession and praying it doesnt generate into a great depression-esque.

President Biden told Secretaries Austin and Blinken to soften their rhetoric after publicly saying that the administration wants Ukraine to "win" the conflict with Russia, NBC News reports.
In a conference call after the two visited Kiev in April, Biden expressed concern that such comments could create unrealistic expectations and increase the risk of a direct conflict with Russia, the report said.

Canada and Germany are negotiating how to circumvent their own sanctions imposed on Russia, and organize the supply Siemens turbines for Russian Gazprom. - Media

Somehow, looking at the actions of these govts., it seems their actions are deliberate. Controlled demolition of nation-states, to usher in something new in the ashes of the old system?

Russia is gradually turning the screws at every turn. Gazprom had reduced gas supply to Germany and Italy by 35 percent, citing maintenance problem on the pipelines, which they alleged is due to the Sanctions on Russia. But Italy and Germany said it's a lie; a political move by Russia weaponizing gas.

I sometimes wonder whether these EU leaders are kids. You weaponized your financial institutions - which are your products - in a bid to screw the economic prowess of the hand that feeds you. And when that hand now withdraws albeit a little from feeding you, you come out and cry foul. Who does that?

As much as I hate to admit it, you sound logically correct. How on Earth would a leader of a country deliberately set in motions a chain of events that gradually erode it's country's economic potentials just to massage the oversize ego of one hegemon?

It's baffling.

If Russia is turning the gas tap it means the financial sanctions is affecting Russia

Like I said earlier there is no winner between Russia and the West.
The longer it goes the more both sides get squeezed.
If these nations are been squeezed then looses will occur in both sides which will lead to a decision .a decision that could be sustainable decision or outright confrontation.till we get to that point.
Only ukraine is the outright looser
Re: Who Is Doing Better, Russia Or The West? by seunny4lif(m): 1:23pm On Jun 17, 2022
How can financial sanction be affecting Russia on gas when gas hit over €1400 and oil price is over €100 even though Russia is selling oil to China and India at the rate of €70 per barrel.

They have made over €90B more than they ever hope within 3 months.

Russia oil and gas exports to China have increased by over 60% and they have become the second largest exporter of oil to India within 3 months.

The gas was turn off because of Siemen maintenance, Siemen said the machine for the pipeline maintenance was sent to Canada.

Yesterday, Canada and Germany government are already discussing how to remove sanctions on the machines because if gas price are too high then German automobiles companies will suffer including the chemical manufacturing companies.

The sanctions affect everyone as inflation is going mad.
Even now that Algeria want to cut off gas supplies to EU because of the Spain position of Morocco

Biden, from one end of his mouth, refers to inflation and high costs of gas and food as pain people have to endure as they gradually whine the country off fossil fuel. On the other end of his mouth, he calls it 'Putin price hikes'.

He campaigned on shutting down Fossil fuels. His first actions were series of executive actions aimed at stopping oil exploration.
He seems to be making good on that promise but when he's asked if that is what is going on? He says no, blame Putin.

Russia is not doing business in Dollars or Euros and inflation is TAX on the citizens
People are paying for the excessiveness and over-reach of global elites. Sanctions exacebated everything. They printed Dollars and Euros and flooded their economies with cash, what usually happens is too much cash is chasing after limited goods.
When you[Africa] have a problem, its your problem, when the West has a problem, its everyone's problem.

Russia cannot use the dollar and euros it makes.

You yourself have posted that Russia is also battling with inflation as a result of excess roubles.

Now I said as long as this war prolongs inflation will continue to hit all all them involved be it Russia, west and down the line china.because china needs to sell it's finished products.

US is in panic mode due to possible sanctions on enriched uranium. Russia exports 46% and the rest are countries unfriendly to the US.

Did you read the excerpts from Putin’s address?

The EU is divided right now, Finland is already bashing Sweden and Boris is in Kiev.

Russia is exporting natural resources in Roubles. That's what i said.
Again, Russia is coming off high inflation due to Putin's policies.
Roubles have become strong and that in itself is a problem for any country that wants to export goods. It's a good problem to have just like China does to its currency
