From 2001 to 2021, Nigeria lost 1.14 million hectares of forest, equivalent to a 11% decrease in tree cover and equal to 587 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, according to Global Forest Watch. Cutting down trees for logging, opening up farmland or to feed energy demand for a growing population is putting pressure on Nigeria’s natural forests

Oga forests have been razed to make space for agriculture, real estate, animal grazing, and to obtain wood for fuel, manufacturing, and construction. Even the house you are sleeping in now was once a goddamn thick forest. You think deforestation doesn't have it's own advantages abi because your dumb biology/geography told you so.

Lol wetin I no go hear for nairaland

so what are the pro and cons of deforestation itself. Unless you are a kidnapper yourself, if not I don't know why you should be very angry about cutting down of trees

Deforestation and afforestation kee you there. Some idiotic opinions shouldn't be allowed to foul the atmosphere.

We're in a country where Fulani bastards have turned Nigeria's forests to 'ungoverned spaces" through which they navigate north to south, kidnapping and leaving sorrow, tears and blood in their wake, yet one useless idiot is talking about deforestation. You think you're in Liechtenstein or Norway?

I loathe people who leave a burning house to chase rats. This kind of disingenuous 'wokeness' should be a capital offence.

Found myself thinking of this heavily within the last few months as wanted to buy piece of land.

I hope can be regulated otherwise we'd lose our ecosystem, wildlife and all.

Sadly, the lack of forests will have a negative impact on our environment in future. Nature is intertwined in every way.
