Self-righteousness: Is It Scriptural? Isaiah 64:6. by elated177: 3:03pm On Jun 27, 2022
El Elohe Yahshrael!

Is "self-righteousness" mentioned in the Scriptures within the context of how people use it out there? Nope! I don't think so?

Isaiah 64: 6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

People use the portion of the Scripture above to call for disobedience of the Ten Commandments of YHVH Almighty. They say that anyone who teaches others to obey the Ten Commandments is teaching self-righteousness. Aren't they in error? They are.

Can a righteous person be unclean?

Let us look at the preceding verse, 5, of the chapter above.

5 You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved?

There is SALVATION IN OBEDIENCE TO THE TEN COMMANDMENTS of YHVH Almighty. The Ten Commandments of YHVH Almighty constitute his SALVATION.

How can one do right in the presence of YHVH Almighty without obeying his Commandments? Is it even possible? Nope, it is not. How, then, can obedience to the Ten Commandments of YHVH Almighty equate to "self-righteousness"? I wonder! Can they explain it to us?

Again, going to chapter 64, but this time verse 7.

7 No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and have given us over to our sins.

Are calling on the name of YHVH Almighty and striving to keep his Commandments tantamount to what they call "self-righteousness"? Those who believe so should explain to us.

What is sin? Sin is disobedience of the Instruction of YHVH Almighty.

If people abandon what the Creator of heaven and earth, YHVH Almighty, calls righteous acts and invent their own "righteous acts", are their acts not filthy in his sight? Is it possible for him to reject his righteous requirements and accept their own inventions? Impossible!

The cases of Abel and Cain; Nadab and Abihu, etc, come to mind.

Genesis 4:6 Then YHVH said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

Leviticus 10: Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before YHVH, contrary to his command. 2 So fire came out from the presence of YHVH and consumed them, and they died before YHVH.

Isaiah 50: Who among you fears YHVH
and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of YHVH and rely on their God.
11 But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment.

Jeremiah 2: 13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns,
broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

Mark 7: 6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ 8 You have let go of the commands of YHVH and are holding on to human traditions.” 9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of YHVH in order to observe your own traditions!

The Father in heaven is telling them that their traditions - their "righteous acts" - are worthless, filthy rags in his presence.

To the genuine seeker of the Truth of YHVH Almighty, the Creator of the heavens, the earth, the seas and everything in them, the one and only true God, study the Scriptures for yourself. Depend on the Word of YHVH Almighty alone and not on any man or woman. Know that obedience to the Ten Commandments of YHVH Almighty, which his begotten Son, Yahushua the Messiah, is an embodiment of, is the ONLY LIGHT. Those who disregard this, have made their own light. They have invented their own "righteous" acts. Their own "light" and their own "righteous " acts are like filthy rags - worthless, if you like - in the sight of our Father in heaven.

May the Father of the heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows continue to guide and guard us, his saints, servants and messengers, along the Righteous Path that he has marked out for us.

El Elohe Yahshrael! Hallelu YAH!

So no one has come to"re-educate" us and tell us how we are wrong?
