That is what I thought as well but those in the markets use phone , make calls, build houses, send children to school, do voters registration, give birth , etc nah yet data from these parts of HDI are always very low for the whole SE.

These are data captured with better tools now. For weeks now there has been intense mobilization for voters registration in the SE and videos even shared online yet the whole new voters registeted for the whole 5 SE Igbo states is less than that of Osun state shocked
This is because voters registration now is better captured, we now have phone lines linked to NIN , there is now BVN etc yet the numbers are all still low for Igbos.
Are Igbos even up to 2 million in population? shocked
The statistics is about use of INTERNET not Phone number.

Most business guys don't even use android, they use Nokia 33 kind of phone, internet is not their priority.

I was on here yesterday when some dude who claimed he’s from Akwa ibom was yabbing Ibadan calling her “ filthy and full of brown roofs “ and also extended the courtesy to all the western cities and claimed eastern states and cities are better until I schooled the dross that Ibadan is more developed than any city in the south east and more developed than Uyo his capital city considering all socio-economic variables.

This stat is an indication that Oyo state is one the most economically viable states in Nigeria and it has always been that way for a while and the major reason Oyo state made that list is cos of the economic strength and the purchasing power of the Ibadan people and it’s a clear indication that Ibadan is one of the most developed city in Nigeria socio-economically.it is a structured and balanced city with different sectors and industries functional and working optimally.

N.B. This is wasn’t made to malign any region or city or made to Spark any unhealthy ethnic or tribal rivalry it’s just to buttress the point that Ibadan is a thriving city and correct the ignorance of yesterday’s poster!

This is the second demographic/ developmental data I am reading today where the SE is having no representation in the top states because of their low population numbers which makes me to doubt the imagined official population of the SE. Official population of Igbo in SE is inflated and needs to be thoroughly and scientifically investigated.

All these data, land mass and satelite images are pointers that the SE population may have been inflated.

Igbo are actually far smaller in population than the anogue census data estimate.

These low numbers are not coincidental and are data obtained with better data capture tools unlike in the past.

Is this the reality the politicians know in the political turf that Igbo do not have a high population which made the leading parties not to take their flagbearers and running mates from the SE?

All data from SE, even international data on SE, are conflating into low population of Igbo.

The whole population of Igbo in the 5 Igbo SE states may not even be more populous than Oyo state or Kaduna or Katsina with dorminant monoethnic groups yet the SE has 5 states and LGAs more than each of those states! Should this not be investigated just to be sure that funds are actually reaching real citizens and not ghost citizens.

Is there another tribe now displacing Igbo as the 3rd most populous or the linguistic spread of Igbo language responsible for the masking of the reality of low Igbo population is now being eliminated with better data capture technology tools ?
Do u consider the fact that it IGBOS migrate more than any tribe in Nigeria and it is logical to assume that more than half the population of IGBOS is outside of the southeast?
Reason na! Have u been to anywhere in Nigeria that u didn't meet igbos resident there?

You are making a very wrong assumption here and that is that there are no Igbos using Internet in the top states. A pointer to the true Igbo population is enrolment for jamb and school cert where state of origin is used against state of residence used in the present analysis.
Because you people have made Igbos minorities politically, you now want to make them minorities demographically. There is God oh.
You may be wrong sir.
Here is a link to the recent data from JAMB and the tertiary institutions where Igbo dominate are very few and not even in the top 4 for universities or among top 8 for polytechnics or top 10 for colleges of education.

This is a common thread for most data and this is a group we believe are the 3rd in population but always having very low numbers in most data collected across Nigeria.

It is no longer a coincidence when for every data collected, the Igbo have very low numbers. It is confirming that the actual population of Igbo is low and the numbers being bandied is inflated.

Look at the chart below, from 2010 to 2016, imo state topped the chart for highest jamb registration. That's a record. They difference between SW and SE is 0.53

Remember South East has five states compared to South West with six states.
So disappointed, people talk without background research.
From the chart, can u still say igbo don't have population.

Someone who claims to have gone to medical school should at least know the inherent bias in this analysis: internet use is proportional to availability of network services.
If you go to a swart of Igboland today, government presence has been missing since after the civil war. I mean basic infrastructure like roads, water, electricity, and now phone towers. Ibadan – Ibadan, the Oyo State capital has been named the second fastest growing city in Africa for the year 2022, according to United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) research

In a post by Business Insider through its official Instagram handle; @businessinsiderssa, Ibadan is rated behind Accra, Ghana and above Lagos, which occupies the third position.

The post, which was captioned— “Top Ten Fastest Growing Cities in Africa”, saw two Nigerian cities occupying key positions.

Some of the key metrics of measure listed by UN-Habitat research are; urbanisation, industrialisation, population and job opportunities.

It added that the growth of these cities can be attributed to population boom and increased economic activities.

According to Brahima Coulibaly, Director of Brookings’ Africa Growth Initiative, “About half of the world’s fastest-growing economies will be located on the continent, with 20 economies expanding at an average rate of 5 per cent or higher over the next five years, faster than the 3.6 per cent rate for the global economy.

“By 2050, Africa’s population is anticipated to reach about 2 billion inhabitants, and more economic activities are taking place, counterbalancing the increasing population.”

The list include the following cities: Accra, Ghana , Ibadan, Nigeria, Lagos, Nigeria, Dakar, Senegal, Abidjan, Côte d’voire,
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Luanda, Angola,Kinshasa, DRC,
Nairobi, Kenya and
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Meanwhile, some Nigerian Instagram users have reacted to the ratings, praising the Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde for his quick, impactful and data based policy making. Other users were simply amazed at the list while others refuted it.

Since your mission today today is to prove that Igbos are less than 2million, why don't you ask the government to let people declare their tribes on the census forms, like the British did a long time ago.
It will save you from false science.
