But Tinubu was not indicted, which speaks volumes.

An investor who cleaned and possibly disguised his dirty money could be found out to be a drug baron or criminal. But as long as it was proven beyond reasonable doubt that Tinubu had no knowledge or part in the actual illicit trade, he could not be indicted.

This suggests why Tinubu was not indicted but only made to forfeit the monies from the illicit trade that was invested in his business, with the rest of the money released by the US authorities without further ado.
