The update is available to download online, but Xiaomi hasn't yet rolled it out officially. So anytime I try to update it manually it tells me its in beta mode, that I can't install it.

Have you gotten the update officially? How is it? Any issues?

No significant difference to be honest. Just the notification shade redesigned a little. I think MIUI kind of limited the upgrade.

Don't bring Transsion into this discussion. Transsion does not send OS updates to any of its phones which is really bad of them but this thread was created for Xiaomi users. Xiaomi is yet to officially release Android 12 to it's Redmi phones when Android 13 is already around the corner? Very horrible for a company that is receiving this much hype.
So when will they release it? Probably when Google launches Android 13 and then only God knows when the Redmi phones will receive Android 13. SMH.

I no longer receive updates on my RN9, it's been two years now that I have been using it. I have been stuck at MIUI 12.5.4, any help here?

There's not much difference between Android 11 and 12, and if what heard about 13 is true, it will just be more of the same.
We won't get a significant upgrade until Android 14 rolls around.

There were several updates and upgrades. It also depends on the phone you are using. Google Pixel users got the major upgrade as the stock Android UI that comes with Pixel phones was upgraded to Material You UI which came with a completely new design. As far as I'm concerned, only Pixel users really felt the upgrade from Android 11 to 12 because the upgrade was not just at the backend but also at the frontend as well. Other Android phone companies did not really change their UI which is why you did not notice any difference.
