COVID-19, Ukranian War Might Stop Nigeria From Reaching SDGs In 2030 – UN by oshozondii: 7:21am On Jul 14, 2022
The United Nations has said Nigeria is not close to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2030 due to the various challenges bedevilling the country.

The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Nigeria, Mr Matthias Schmale, stated this during the first summit on Africa Social Impact 2022 organised by Sterling One Foundation in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said, “The challenges are compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, education, growing unemployment, inflation and insufficient access to quality health care.”

He maintained that the situation was the same across many African nations, adding that transformational efforts were required from nations in Africa to meet up with the development agenda.

“If we position women and girls at the center of economic drive, we will fundamentally drive better and more sustainable outcomes for all, and put Africa back on a footing to achieve the 2030 agenda and its accompanying SDGs,” Schmale said.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer, Sterling Bank, Mr Abubakar Suleiman, said for Nigeria to meet up with SDG’s plan, more attention must be paid to wealth and job creation.

He said the government should pay more attention to promoting economic growth by supporting the private sector to create jobs and drive growth to other sectors of the economy.

We should position women and children on the centre of economic drive when we haven't even positioned men that are capable.

Schmale isn't think straight at all, they will just go to UN meetings and be saying rubbish.

The war in Ukraine has nothing to do with us, we should rather encourage consumption of local foods and do away with their expensive wheat, any wise business man knows that knows about business would know that President Buhari isn't the only one to take the blame for this present economic failure in Nigeria, the middlemen are wicked, they inflate the prices of almost all products yet they come here to lament too and they are raking in huge money whereas the end consumers are suffering.

No one should do analysis on the Nigeria's economy again, it's truly pointless because even if you make a campaign on it, you can't stop the ignorant and tribalistic folks here that will rather vote their evil tribal/religious man into seat than vote a man that can change the economic situation of the country made of greedy people.

Very true. The Ukrainian war has lead to hyperinflation but non of those things can be compared to the bad leadership we are facing right now which has lead to Nigerians suffering more than any other time in their lives

2015 all of Tinubu and all APC supporters were all shouting that buhari was the alpha and omega who will help Nigeria with it bad situations, but after 8 years now, it is now the Tinubu that is now the alpha and omega to rescue Nigeria.

If nor be say Nigeria nor follow road for anything good, after this disastrous 7years of buhari government, una wey be APC supporters supposed put una head for ground with shame and they apologize to other Nigerians by now. But no, u guys are rather bragging for another old man to continue from where buhari stopped, because una done already know say Nigeria and anything bad na 5 & 6.

But one thing I like about the life for naija is that, nobody know when he own breakfast go dey ready. I know that most of the victims today (especially the deaths ones) of this buhari evil government, was amongst the ones shouting say baba up and down in 2015. But today, many of them done chop breakfast.

U guys should keep on supporting evil people to be piloting Nigeria, last last wether rich or poor o, everybody go collect their own share of the evil.

APC and it supporters really see Nigeria and Nigerians finish.

What concern Nigeria with COVID-19 and Ukranian War?
Would they also affect USA, UAE and UK too?
How will girls and women solve Nigeria's problems?

Nigeria has become a dustbin for the world to use for irrational propaganda. It is sad.

But the Ukraine war is not affecting Botswana or Vietnam?.

Keep allowing the whites to use our heads play ludo for over 500 years.
When their own continent becomes very unstable or their resource base becomes very low, they will try to forcefully take over this space ,( if they had not then "ejected " minority of unthinking Africans from life).
