kenzysmith: Are Julio Barosso, Neri Cardozo, and Gustavo Oberman still in the Argentina National team or are they playing for a top 3 european club in spain, france, or england today? When last did Zabaleta play for Argentina? All those players were in Argentina's U20 squad. Mikel Obi's last game for Nigeria was 2019. Taye taiwo played from 2004-12 |

AdemolaVictorTv: My favorite remains Atlanta 96. Kanu Nwankwo was brave enough to carry the ball when it became obvious that the referee didn't want to end the match at stoppage time which means he wanted Argentina to win. With what Kanu did, he was forced to blow the final whistle. |

✨✨⏩⏩Nothing in Nigeria global soccer can be as sweet as the defeat of Brazil in the semifinals of the 1996 Olympics soccer event. That victory was even better than the eventual final against Argentina who we beat to take home the gold medal. The victory was a classic case of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. ☺️☺️☺️☑️☑️ In the second half of that match, at 3-1 against us, those of us watching had already conceded defeat and were praying for less goals against us, to reduce the disgrace. I was Kaduna based at the time, and due to time difference, the matches were played between 1 to 2 am Nigeria time. Immediately After the win, almost the whole youthin Kaduna made an immediate procession to the family home of Tijani Babangida, amember of the squad, to greet his father , that same night at 3am❗️❗️❗️ Abacha era was a glorious time for sports in Nigeria. |

I remember the miracle of Damman is Saudi Arabia. After the match, journalists asked our coach, Disu how the team were able to comeback, he replied that his boys simply played to instruction. Another journalist then asked him “You mean you asked your boys to concede four goals and then do a comeback”? That became the biggest joke of the tournament then. 1 Like |

Definitely Damann miracle. Hope was lost in the first half. Nigeria was completely overwhelmed by the old USSR. The team was a good one, with very solid players. Angus Ekeji, Christopher Ohenhen, Samuel Elijah, Nduka Ugbade, etc. The free kick converted by Christopher Ohenhen brought us a glimmer of hope. The supporters at the stadium danced and played the drums with more intensity. With the game at, 4 - 3 Nigerians rose to their feet. The team was on a great ascendency and rather than have hope, we had faith. Our faith became reality when the great Nduka Ugbade lifted the ball above the goalkeeper to make it 4 - 4. The joy was unspeakable. With more time we could have defeated the Soviets. It was a great game. The passion was there, the emotion was high; the enjoyment no be here. All the bars were filled. IBB was the head of state. Nigerians were suffering “austerity measures”, but were not deterred. Chai. Northern leaders, na una spoil this country with very poor leadership and economic policies. 1 Like |

They have not been anything like that atlanta 96, in terms of football in Nigeria. To top it all, Nigeria went ahead and win the gold medal, but the other two comebacks even though they were spectacular, the 1st price still eluded us. |
