I was one of those who predicted that Buhari presidency would be marked by retrogression and bloodshed. Now that was easy. Although like most Africans, Nigerians find strategic thinking laborious, if you have a little strategic insight, you would know what the leadership of any of those contesting portends for the country. For Mr Bola Tinubu, here are 10 things that are sure to happen if he becomes president.

1. A Tinubu's presidency would move against most of Buhari's policies, especially the ethnic-centered decisions that gave the Fulani undue advantage in the economy. Tinubu would remove all the Fulani heading southern ports and replace them with his men. This means that agencies like NPA which Buhari is using as his eye on southern ports of Apapa, Tin Can and Onne would be manned by Yoruba.

2. Boko Haram would become more daring and restart their conquest of territories. There will be a stronger collaboration between ISWAP and Fulani militia. Since these groups are against "fake Islam" and having such ruling them, their renewed onslaught against the country would intensify.

3. Boko Haram would become stronger, emboldened by having a strong support in government. They will overtake ISWAP as the dominant terror group in the country since they would exploit their political influence to acquire more weapons. We saw them take over hardware seized from Nigerian Army during this regime. In Tinubu's regime, BH would have access to high grade military equipment using their moles in the government to get them. They will also acquire more armor piercing missiles.

4. Southern ports in Lagos and the boundary with Benin Republic would be relaxed to help SW economy. The northern borders with Niger, Cameroon and Chad would be tightened to fight insecurity. The same would happen to the southern border with The Cameroons.

5. Biafra agitation would increase because Tinubu would continue with Buhari's policy of exclusion of the Southeast and the South-south, who didn't vote them.

6. Tinubu will work to curry the favor of Fulani and won't demonstrate the will needed to fight the ongoing genocide. So the killings and ethnic cleansing of the Middlebelt and indigenous northern communities will continue. The onslaught will be more as the Fulani militia feels the reprisals of a more balanced military.

7. Tinubu will try to spread the control of security agencies between his allies and Yoruba personnel. His people will defend him by saying he did better than Buhari who appointed ONLY Fulani to head security agencies in the country. Tinubu would appoint Yoruba and Fulani to head security agencies.

8. The economy will continue on its downward slide since Tinubu has no roadmap. The corruption and looting of resources would continue. The only difference this time is that the looters would be mainly Yoruba unlike now Fulani are in charge.

9. Inflation will be at an all-time-high because of the impact of borrowings. Tinubu would spend half his presidency blaming Buhari for borrowing trillions. He would also claim that servicing the debt burden is the reason the Nigerian economy has collapsed, not corruption.

10. Yoruba nation agitation will be renewed. The agitator will push the narrative that a Yoruba presidency is the best opportunity to exit the country, but Tinubu would hear non of it. His camp among the Yoruba would say that Yoruba needs the wealth of SE and SS to develop. The Yoruba nation proponents will also use his presidency to shop for arms spurred by more killings by the Fulani militia in the SW. Since the Tinubu group won't buy Yoruba nation, this will degenerate to arms struggle using the now porous SW border to arm the secessionists.

* Addendum.
10B Tinubu's vice, Shettima would wield a lot of influence because Tinubu would get weaker with age. In a couple of years, he would be at loggerheads with Shettima whose influence would start overshadowing Tinubu. The north would move to have Tinubu impeached, that has been the vision of the north in any case. To grab power through the back door by foisting a weak old southerner on the country in 2023, if Atiku didn't win.

Bola Tinubu as a person does not believe in the unity of the country. That doesn't mean that he doesn't believe in benefiting from that unity. He is eyeing the presidency for such benefits. Tinubu also isn't very religious, but he is aware of the need to exploit religious sentiments for his personal benefit. In summary, Tinubu presidency is strategically in the interest of 1) The North and 2) Boko Haram.

There's a need for Nigeria to be made to belong to Nigerians. At the moment, the country belongs to a few who smuggled their ways to power.

Yoruba Muslim CAN never rule Nigeria. The Northern muslims group Yoruba muslims in same class as Shiites. Even VP, them no go smell talkless of president. The day a Shiite becomes governor in Kaduna is the day Yoruba muslim will smell presidency.
The North respect Christians more than fake muslims.

Yoruba struggle to get presidency is simply to also enjoy the undue advantage the north has enjoyed all these years

The yorubas like the north don't believe in fairness and equity. This is the reason Tinubu said Yoruba Lo KAN. Meaning its Yoruba turn to occupy all the strategic positions in the country, its their turn to loot, its their turn to stockpile arms, its their turn to use Nigeria's resources to develop their region and every other region should wait for their turn.

If Tinubu eventually wins, towards the end of his tenure he would restructure the country in such a way that SW will have maximum advantage over other rwgions.

Tinubu presidency will frustrate other ports on Nigeria to boost the port operations in Lagos especially the newly built Lekki deep sea port and the up coming Badagry sea port.

Yorubas are only interested in developing their region so all other regions will be dependent on them for livelihood.

Tinubu will sell almost all govt assets to himself through fake concession deals and he will spread his tentacles to even buy most govt assets in other African countries.

Tinubu's greed and quest for wealth knows no boundaries.

Guess work, even broken clock is right twice a day, so getting one or two things right in your list won't be new. Tinubu will be fair and take every region along but don't expect a key position if you don't deliver your state, Yoruba were still marginalized in 2011 even when we voted for Jonathan. It's only fair to have people who invested in him to have the top positions, if the north gives him 65% of their votes and Yoruba give 75% of theirs, then I expect the north to be right up there with Yoruba in all key positions. If the north gives Tinubu more votes than Yoruba or any other region, fairness dictates they dominate his administration because they believing him. What is important is Nigerians will finally enjoy their country and democracy.

Is Amaechi not from from ss, so how is that not enough if they didn't vote for him? Yorubavoted for Jonathan in 2011 and didn't get anything close to that. As for ss it's a whole different ball game, you didn't only not vote for him but bullied him too. So for Buhari to turn around and reward you would make him a coward. You reap what you sow but you still Nigerians with rights to enjoy good governance but just don't espect to be part of the administration in key positions.

I'm for niger delta keeping what is theirs, so Yoruba money can stop going to igboland to take care of everyone and everything there. The money going out of Yorubaland is enough to turn the region to Singapore if every region is allowed to take charge of its resources.
