The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSIEC, has ignored the call of Peoples Democratic Party,Osun chapter not to embark on local government election.

July 16 Osun Governorship Election Report
The Osun PDP in a statement released and signed by its Director of Media, Oladele Oluwabamiji, warned OSIEC that any of it official who engage in conduction of Local Government electron will be prosecuted and punished according to the law.

But the OSIEC inaugurated by Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Monday declared that it will conduct the local government elections across Osun State on October 15, 2022.

Chairman of the commission, Otunba Olusegun Oladuntan made this known at a press briefing in Osogbo on Monday.

Oladuntan said the Commission is now operating on the newly passed and assented Osun State electoral act 2022 which was passed by the State Assembly.

He said the commission has also held parley with the political parties to brief them on the process.

I stumbled on this news of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) planning to conduct Local Government election they did not conduct in three years and nine months of Oyetola's administration. This attempt is nothing but a ploy to plunder the state into avoidable crisis after his inglorious departure in November.

Even if Oyetola doesn't have good friends around, what about his wife, why would you leave in November and leave crisis behind? You were rejected because the people could no longer tolerate your deception and deceit and you want to unleash terror on them with this act!

One thing is certain, it won't take more than one sentence in Sen Ademola Adeleke's inaugural speech to dislodge your boys at the Local Governments, whoever stays a minute behind will see how ferocious Osun people can be. They rejected you and your entire structures, and any remnant willing to test the people's will may learn a lesson.

I think anyone who cannot do without being in government should rather join PDP now, but if you senselessly partake in such charade because you want to be in an office, you are on your own. Half a word they say is enough for the wise.

Local Government Election: 'We Will Take Legal Action Against OSIEC' - Osun PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osun State Chapter says it will take legal action against the Osun Independent Electoral Commission OSIEC for the plan to conduct Local Government election in the state.

This is just as the Chairman, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSIEC, announced the plan to conduct Local Government elections in Osun State on 15th October, 2022, a period of about 60 (sixty) days from today, and a period of about 3 months to the take off of administration of the Governor-Elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

A statement by the PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Akindele Adekunle says the party will engage all lawful means including mobilising the masses in peaceful protests against the illegal and atrocious plans of OSIEC against the state.

PDP assures the people of Osun State that it will do everything under the precinct of the law in making sure that Osun State is not further dragged into dungeons of economic retardation through the kangaroo election being proposed by Governor Oyetola and OSIEC.

Dr. Adekunle said "PDP have invited the attention of the Inspector-General of Police to the imminent criminality and we are by this release further inviting the police authority to the looming breakdown of peace and order in Osun State in the event OSIEC proves to be above the laws of the land regarding the conduct of the election".

He noted that the illegal election as stated recently, is targeted mainly at wasting resources of the state and to cover for some financial infractions by the outgoing APC government.

"For sake of emphasis however, matters concerning conduct of the election are already before competent courts of law and as a law abiding political party, we will rely on the processes enabled by our laws to strengthen the nation's democracy and enlighten the outgoing APC government to make them come to terms that government activities must not always be premised on crude arrogance and wanton illegality".

Prince Adekunle called on members of the public especially the suffering masses of Osun to join the PDP in its efforts towards putting out the fire of crisis the APC Administration through OSIEC is trying to plant in the state.

Recall that about two weeks ago, the PDP raised an alarm about the plan to conduct illegal Local government elections in Osun State but the OSIEC Chairman, Otunba Segun Oladitan dismissed same as a rumour.

"Barely 5 days after however, the OSIEC chairman invited political parties for a briefing which they tagged "a PARLEY "

At the said meeting held on Friday 12th August, 2022, the PDP was ably represented at the meeting and a warning letter was openly presented and spoken to before the Commission. The illegality of the purported election is not only what is at play but also the attendant criminality being perpetrated by OSIEC and the financial injury such wasteful calisthenics will foist on Osun people. The content of the said letter is available in the public domain.

Someone should sue them and prevent this from happening.

The LG should be liberated from the shackles of the Chief Executives.

How can an outgoing governor decide to conduct LG election weeks to his exit, especially when he just lost a reelection bid. It morally wrong now .

That was how someone refused to conduct same LG election for close to 8 years as a governor and only did the so at the twilight of his administration.

The shenanigans must stop.

Local Government Election: Oyetola Penchant For Illegality Will Not Stand - Osun PDP

The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party, Osun State Chapter, has been called to the announcement made by the Chairman of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) on the plan to conduct Local Government elections in Osun State on 15th October, 2022, a period of about 60 (sixty) days from today, and a period of about 3 months to the take off of administration of the Governor-Elect, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke.

Recall that about two weeks ago, the PDP raised an alarm about the plan to conduct illegal Local government elections in Osun State but the OSIEC Chairman, Otunba Segun Oladitan dismissed same as a rumour. Barely 5 days after however, the OSIEC chairman invited political parties for a briefing which they tagged "a PARLEY "

Apparently, the OSIEC Chairman seems adamant in going ahead with the illegal election and as such, we in the PDP will not fold our arms iand watch the Apc turn our dear state into lawless entity. We will ensure that the sinister and dangerous plan of OSIEC that has become an appendage of the APC does not see the light of the day.

Already, we have adequately invited the attention of the ilInspector-General of Police to the imminent criminality and we are by this release further inviting the police authority to the looming breakdown of peace and order in Osun State in the event OSIEC proves to be above the laws of the land regarding the conduct of the election.

We will engage in all lawful means including mobilising the masses of Osun State, who have entrusted us with the mandate to protect their interest, day-in, day-out, in peaceful protests against the illegal and atrocious plans of OSIEC against the state.

The PDP assures the good people of Osun State that we will do everything under the precinct of the law in making sure that Osun State is not further dragged into dungeons of economic retardation through the kangaroo election being proposed by the defeated governor and his conduits in OSSIEC.

The illegal election as we have stated recently, is targeted mainly at wasting resources of the state and to cover for some financial infractions by the outgoing Apc government.

For sake of emphasis however, matters concerning conduct of the election are already before competent courts of law and as a law abiding political party, we will rely on the processes enabled by our laws to strengthen the nation's democracy and enlighten the outgoing Apc government to make them come to terms that government activities must not always be premised on crude arrogance and wanton illegality

Members of the public especially the suffering masses of Osun are hereby called upon to join the PDP in its efforts towards putting out the fire of crisis the defeated APC Administration through OSIEC is trying to plant in the state.
