On Maj Orji's death, he died as a result of IED explosion planted on road side by IPOB members during a familiarization tour of some senior officers. Infact, he was the one that picked up the zinc from the road side and the IED detonated. However, several IEDs planted by Igbos were neutralised in the process, before the last IED fragments hit Maj Orji on his head and died as a result of injury sustained.
