At an investment dinner in Washington DC, I met with investors in America and used the opportunity to tell them about Lagos as the destination for global businesses and new frontier for profitable business opportunities.

This meeting and brainstorming session with investors looking to invest in the media, entertainment, and creative sector at large, ended with positive outcomes and furthermore laid credence to our vision not only for the creative industry, but other sectors in Lagos state.

As part of the planned Lagos Film City project, we visited Trilith studios, an American film and television production studio located south of Atlanta in Fayette County, Georgia where we met with the founder, Mr. Daniel Truett Carthy.

It was a productive and an eye opening visit, as we were taken round the 700 acre site studio, with 24 sound stages.

The entertainment industry in Lagos and in Nigeria is not only the biggest in Africa but also contributes to the GDP of the State.

We know what it means and we are supporting that industry to be able to flourish

We are already changing the narrative by deliberately working in partnership with industry players to bring more development and professionalism into the creative sector.

Lagos and Atlanta have been known to enjoy over fifty years sister-cities relationship, which we had not utilized to best of its capacity.

Last night, I met with Mr. Andre Dickens, the Mayor of Atlanta on new and innovative ways to renew the age long relationship.

At the meeting, we touched on different areas of collaborations such as education, technology, sports and entertainment. And agreed to work together on other mutually beneficial areas for the development of the two cities.

I had an interview session with Williams Armstrong, an American political commentator, entrepreneur, author, and talk show host.

We discussed amongst other topics, the obvious fact that Lagos state is the destination of choice presently for global business collaborations.

I also reiterated that technology, infrastructure, renewable energy and entertainment are areas that remain fertile for serious and potential investors to look at, because there is a guaranteed return on investments in these sectors for those coming to invest in Lagos state.
