In Islam we believe and know Allah brought us to earth to worship him. Therefore it is compulsory to do that by praying the 5 daily salat, giving out zakat, fasting during Ramadan and going to Pilgrim(if you are capable).

Also aside the five daily salat (worship) we can pray to Allah for anything we want anytime anywhere.
