I don't know when you had your first degree, hence, I assume it might have been when candidates were admitted based on merit. However, nowadays, you would agree with me that many public university students are not there on merit. So, I don't see why a highly respected professor in one of the foremost universities in Nigeria would find it difficult to "put" his/her child in that uni or another where he/she has connections.

To be honest, the University of Benin is the best. Forget "webometrics rankings", they rank universities by their "website design and structure". A well designed website gets top position, this is a wrong base for ranking.

Although there are universities that are very much better than others here in Nigeria, but the question is can any of the universities in totality meet up with the international standard?
Look at our curricula for instance, they are still those ones that were being in use in the early sixties. Which explains the reason why many of Nigerian graduates are half-baked professionals.

I don't know why Nigerians are too sentimental. Most people that have posted have either named a university because they are current or former students of the university. Some, simply because the university is located in their village. The truth is that before we can come to a conclusion as to which university is the best, we have to examine each one considering different variables.

Schools like UNN, UI, OAU, ABU, UniBen are the most prestigious and most popular because of their history. But most of these schools live on past glory. Some state owned university are better than these schools.

how come all these private universities are not there with all the money they are collecting. its so unfortunate

Don't know d criteria 4 accessing best university, so funny that some 1 even says Uniben, great Uniben is on it,s way down, it is presently one of d worst, getting de-accreditation threats from left right & center.

Funny that no 1 has so far figured that the best uni in Nigeria 2day is Unaab {Uni of Agric Abeokuta}, with
no cult activities,
no hanky panky moves between lecturers & students,
no missing scripts after exams,
no "u no buy my handout so u fail my course" syndrome,
