Gunmen Attack, Kill Five Soldiers, Others In Anambra by Noneroone(m): 6:30pm On Sep 28, 2022
Unidentified gunmen have allegedly killed five soldiers, injuring many others in Anambra State.

A source said the incident happened in Umunze community, a suburban town located around the boundary of the state with Abia State.

The source said: “I was told the Military men were moving in their vehicle at Umunze, when the assailants struck along that Umunze -Umunneochi road around 1 pm.

“Nobody saw any sign of the presence of those criminals, what we heard was gunshots like a war zone.

“Some of us who were close to the Zenith Bank where the attack happened ran for our dear lives. The criminals took the soldiers unawares, the reason they got all of them,” the source said.

Already, there are fears in the community as it is believed that the soldiers may come for a reprisal attack on innocent members of the community.

When DAILY POST contacted the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, he confirmed the incident, saying that it happened at about 1pm on Wednesday.

He, however, said the details of the attack were still sketchy, as he did not say the number of casualties.

“The details had not been received, but we know there was an incident at Umunze, which happened between 12-1.30pm today.”

There are actually three soldiers and a civilian who is an errand boy for the soldiers that was given military camouflage pants and cap, he collects money from tipper drivers on behalf of the soldiers.
It's a pity, the Nigerian government government should use political solution to address the insurgency in the East.
I saw a comment here yesterday about a Bill for Zoning of presidency to address the issue of marginalisation.
And the comment is saying that "Passing the Bill equals to giving the presidency to Igbos (that he addressed as Osus) on a platter"
And he gathered likes which means many others share his sentiments.
Yes, the political marriage between the West and the North is favouring you guys due to your population.
But, your sovereign power in the East and other regions that will join the East should the status quo continue will reduce drastically.
Imagine, right now in the East, Nigerian flags, which is the symbol of the Country's sovereignty is not existing, except in government houses or Police headquarters.
Police divisions, Banks and Schools across the Council areas have pulled down the Nigerian flags.
Police can't go into the Towns to make arrests.
Police, Road safety and civil defense corps have put off their uniforms.
Military have dismantled their checking points in isolated areas.
They are only in the town centers.
How long will you continue like this?
How long will you guys continue sacrificing the lives of young men in the military and paramilitary to prove your egocentric points?
Rest in peace Soldiers, you are victims of political games.

I lost all regards for the military when they started this nonsense. Nigerian army is a shameless, naira-guzzling boy's brigade.
