Who else has noticed that a lot of empty vessels always fight logic and embrace idiocy using the worn-out statement highlighted above?

A case of "you cannot refute my lie that I insist must be true".

You don't know them much as I do. I spent 6 years in the University in IBO land. As you said, they always fight logic and embrace idiocy. Their worst attributes is that they can never accept correction and believe in noise making / chest beating and propaganda.

The audio is old and it has been on Nairaland front page twice. I think Amosun recorded around 2017. Shettima never denied he said that. That’s his voice . He talks like somebody who has catarrh and that’s Amosun baritone voice

This is disinformation.

The voice recording is not fake. It was the real voice of Amosun and Shettima. It has been on the Internet since 2015 and none of them has denied the fact ever since.

Fact check on nairaland is beimg mischievous. Probably, it's been bribed to change the facts.

You are du mb bro.

Does the purported restrictions by the present government affect people like dangote, BUA etc?
Or is it not start-ups, SMEs that are suffering it?
Do you think they(Dangote and others) suffer lack of forex like start-ups, SMEs do?

BTW, his statement included both export and import, and forex, but in your dishonesty you decided to twist it to suit your ev il(dishonesty) purpose.

Well, it is very obvious you don't know anything on economics.

This is because you have not been following the gains in the cement and rice production. Nigeria went through hardship to get to where we are today, reversing everything should be considered treason.

My problem is that a presidential candidate wants to remove import restrictions in Nigeria.

Like what the Bleep?

Within 2 months of such stupid policy the dollar reserve in the central bank will be empty.

Millions of employees will lose their jobs.

Even people that produce biscuit will close their factories.

It's scary in this e-commerce era where I can order for 1 million crates of eggs abroad, 200,000 cartons of frozen chicken online, and throw poultry farmers into joblessness.

Nigeria will suffer the worst balance of payment deficit ever known to humanity.

Wow. Just wow!

That man if elected will be the worst president in Nigeria’s history. He is just riding on the anger of the youths and nothing else. He has nothing upstairs.

Oga, stick to what you know, leave the one that is causing you "problems" for those that can handle it or try to do so, Afterall things have been done same way for the past 7 years and we know where it has gotten us. From 150 per dollar to 750! Should be continue doing things the same way and getting same results ie the destruction of the naira?
Kindly stick to hailing Tinubu and bashing tribes, leave economics to others willing to try a different route.

You people don’t think, that is your problem. You think 150 to 750 is bad abi, remove forex restrictions and see what happens. I guarantee the naira will devalue against the dollar by N1000 every six months. You will buy 2001 pencil camry for what you will buy a new camry today, na that time una eye go clear. You think those who put the forex restrictions and import restrictions don’t know what they are doing. Yes, there is corruption in that system where they give the rates to their friends but the alternative is 1000x worse.

You've confirmed my conclusion.

Nigeria loses dollars to importation of refined petroleum products- a direct cause.

Your claim that Nigeria is "importing" petroleum because of corruption makes corruption a remote cause.

A direct cause ranks higher than a remote cause.

Our refineries are no longer functional not because of corruption alone. A government has no business running companies. The socialist/welfarist management of the defunct refineries is also a major reason for their collapse.

A government has no business running refineries. In a country with population of over 200 million people with dependent countries with population of about 200 million people making it almost 350 million people directly and indirectly dependent on Nigerian economy, government cannot run refineries. I have done analysis on corruption in the downstream sector severally. If one million litres of diesel is pumped from PH Refinery to Aba depot, a very short distance, Aba depot can hardly receive 650,000 litres. 350,000 litres is gone. It happened that Refineries can never be run profitably. The crude is also to be paid for because it is not free.

Peter Obi logic is an Onitsha main market trader's analysis. When their is a shortage of foreign exchange, you cannot remove import restrictions and control (peg) exchange rate. Developed countries monitor our economy and control import list from Nigeria. Apart from oil which is the major foreign exchange earner, non oil export earnings is very low and now apart from green energy which reduces demand for oil, we have inability to meet OPEC quota because of oil theft. Importation of refined petroleum products is now consuming the greater part of foreign reserve. There is a problem. Mind you, whatever happen at Ghana, Niger, Chad, Togo, Benin, etc put demand and pressure on Nigeria economy indirectly.

Obasanjo sold some refineries in 2007. By now, those refineries would have stabilized and generated millions of employment directly and indirectly while conserving billions of dollars used for imported refined petroleum products. Because they don't want a Yoruba man to take credit for economic development. The decision was overturned. Estimated 60 billion dollars obasanjo left was spent leaving about 30 billion dollars. Yaradua / Jonathan government did not save Kobo, rather, borrowed and spent about $30 billion out of Obasanjo savings.

Peter Obi was the Special Adviser on economy to Jonathan government.
IBETO was allowed to import and package cement in PortHarcout while FMN, BUA, Dangote & Lafarge invested on local production. There are so many things I don't want to discuss here. Apart from IBETO, there are many other deals that took place among their kinsmen. That is why they insisted Jonathan should not be probed.

This is really gibberish. Why the refuttal coming now after 5 years. APC candidates are very hard to sell. Tinubu as a placeholder to A sworn hater of Igbos.
To be sincere, my great worries about the APC presidential candidate is Shettima, who is worse than Buhari in terms of bigotry. He even boasted of giving Igbos quit notice and suffocate their only means of survival. A bokoHaram apologist.
My prayer is that let not this happen to Nigeria again. Every southerner should vote either Peter Obi or Atiku.
If these people (APC) wins, the suffocation of Igbos will be second to none and when pushed to the walls, they will react.

Funny you, as I said earlier let's stick to what we know.
The fact that boarders were closed, imprortation of eg rice, turkey and the rest was banned, has it increase local production and made the price of those items reduce? Has it in anyway stopped the devaluation of the naira since those items have been banned and no forex allocated for importation?
7 year ago when those items could be imported, how much was rice, turkey etc and how much was the dollar to naira. Now it has been banned how much is rice etc and how much is the dollar?
You were importing 7 years ago rice 3500 a sack , dollar ₦150. You banned, rice 35k dollar 750! No be juju be that?
Stupid policies!
I wanted to import a truck with my money sourced from abroad, shipping will cost 2500 pounds, clearing ₦1.5m.
Now they told ee new gov policy is that you cannot load items in the booth of the truck to offset your shipping cost. That you must load such items in a container. So in short I will ship a whole truck empty and pay full shipping. On the short term, a civil servant thinks he is making money for gov, but a knolegable person knows that getting taxes from 1000 trucks imported is better than now when only 50 will come in at same time. Last week they said good worth billions are abandoned at the ports, cars etc because after clearing them they can not be sold at market prices, so better to cut cost by abandoning them.
Wise on the short term but silly on the long term.

Is actually those old goats like buharis and gang that are the problem. What does the rest on Nigeria actually gain from Biafra? Why force someone to marry you if you're not their choice? At least one thing Nigeria would have clearly gained is a passport that's not quickly suspected of fraud and cocaine when you travel out but the old goats mostly in tynorth think Biafra must be part of Nigeria for Nigeria to be great.

I can only appeal to our Igbo brothers to be circumspect in their actions. Playing ethnic card ALL d time could be dangerous. All ethnic groups in d country are ur enemies. Why is dialogue & diplomacy are an anathema to the Igbos? As powerful as the Yorubas are in this country, they understand d power of diplomacy which our Igbo brothers misconstrue as cowardice. How can other ethnic groups that make up d country trust Igbos when they continue to play politics of alienation & bitterness/hatred, especially in d light of where d Igbos are coming from( with respect to how d Civil war came about)? I hope Igbos don't bury themselves politically whether knowingly or unknowingly.

Funny dude you expect the igbos to be quiet even in the face of monumental injustice melted on them daily you must be dreaming.

When the local productions are not even enough and also costly for the poor masses to buy
N3TRAL:

There is import restriction on cement that is why Dangote and Bua can successfully run their factories.

There's import restriction on noodles, that is why dufil (indomie) exists.

There is import restriction on some categories of pharmaceuticals, that is why emzor exists and employs pharmacy graduates every year.

There's import restriction on poultry that is why poultry farmers have jobs.

Removing import restriction contradicts the wish for Nigeria to become a producing economy because our fragile local manufacturers will be competing with manufacturers from countries with comparative advantage.

Nigeria will be a dumping ground.
