Party donation is for Party, Peter obi donation is for Presidency, note that party involves both people contesting for governorships |

omenka: May your years be longer. Obi doesn’t know the party has to be in charge of most of campaign funds. He is answerable to the party, politically. He shouldn’t have given another account number. I hope they won’t start fighting over cash. |

Obinoscopy:Lol. Why is Obi raising funds separately? Why are the 'other candidates beside Peter Obi' not putting out account details separately to raise funds for their campaign? |

omenka:Peter Obi and the Labour Party mustn't do things the way APC and PDP do things. Setting up campaign committees is a very expensive and corruption prone exercise, most especially the way PDP and APC set up theirs. So I see nothing wrong in the LP/Peter Obi campaign strategy thus far with regards to funding. |

asanausana91: Invitationn:Every candidates are welcomed to give out their account number, there's no law against it. What's most important is the popularity of the candidates and how much they can raise based on their popularity. |

satelliteDISH: Let me educate you on this issue, There is nothing wrong, here in America you have the right as a citizen to donate directly to a candidate account or the party account, but the candidate must account for the money when it's time to do so. I'm sure the next I will hear is Nigeria is not America that is true. The Nigerian constitution made it clear that no foreign money will be used to support any political party but never said, candidates. Peter Obi wants money for his campaign and the diasporans are willing to donate, also Nigerian law allows individuals citizens to donate to a candidate with a limit now the only way for Obi to get the donations from diasporans and Nigerians who wants to donate to him directly is to open an account for his campaign Obi and Labor party cannot go out of the way to break the law they have lawyers for God sake Obi and Labor Party knows what they are doing it just Ignorance in the path of some citizens manly the oppositions to paint Obi black it just politics. When we will hold him accountable will be if he refused to give an account of what was donated to that account. 1 Like |
