Yesterday, at the meeting at the State Department led by Molly Phee, Assistant Secretary—Bureau of African Affairs, the focus of our discussions were on the critical need to seek collaborative solutions to our local issues on democracy and governance, our deteriorating security and the economy. Most importantly, we secured commitments to support for free and fair elections in Nigeria, an announcement of a sanction policy before the elections to deter anti-democratic forces and commitments for continued partnership with Nigeria in areas of security and development.

Take a closer look at the pictures! As usual, it's southerners that are wrecklessly pushing for a northern candidate. You hardly see northerners genuinely doing so for a southern candidate. It was the case with Tafawa Balewa, the same with Shagari, who got all the support from the likes of Ekwueme, Okadigbo, Adisa Akinloye etc.., Obasanjo and Ibori pushed Yaradua to power, Tinupoo and co pushed Buhari to the top! All of these southerners are doing these thinking the would be northern president might hand over to one of them. Politically, the media has conditioned the mindset of an average southern politician to think that the only way he can be of any significant political stature in the country, is when he sticks his big head into the fulani behind of the northern political establishment. That's like being systematically programmed to accept eternal servitude to some wild desert tribes. A political equivalent of the Stockholm syndrome
