Imagine him having his business in Anambra where IPOB terrorists just declare sit at home at will, do you think he will be able to build the foremost Fintech company in Africa?

If you don’t know, Flutterwave is a Unicorn so if Iyin can identify with Tinubu, he would have weighed his options and he went for it.

The sit at home was it not for their own son Kanu?...if your foolish president did the needful, would there be anything like sit at home in the east...you pple will just be typing like idiots...I spit on your ugly face like your stupid drug lord...

*Tinubu is seeking to strangle the North.*

Written by Sani Sabo, PhD
For Arewa Renaissance Group.

Giving backdrop of ‘Northern economic exclusion’ in the last 8 years of this administration, the north was looking forward to a manifesto that will reflect levelling-up of the economy by introducing favourable policies and intervention that will ensure dividends of democracy reaches every corner of the country in a fair manner. On the contrary, Tinubu’s manifesto seeks to maintain the status quo, and further plunder the north into eminent collapse. I feel his acclaimed Northern support is like the ropes support a hanging man – its slowly grinding and disingenuous.

Any northerner watching Tinubu’s campaign team, is first and foremost greeted with a resounding fear, as our biggest failures from the north – except for very few, mostly our underperforming governors and inept politicians are the people we see around him. This ultimately throws his aspiration into a tenacious state. It makes his whole movement uninspiring, and the youths are nowhere to be found around him, just aged-long politicians only aligned by personal interests. From a Northern perspective, Tinubu’s APC campaign team is a coalition of compromised politicians that have failed in their primary duties. Lest we forget, if the north is to support Tinubu, we will approach him with fear of bias to Lagos, which has already begun in this dispensation.

If Tinubu truly supports the North, his manifesto entitled ‘Renewed Hope’ should reflect that. But for anyone that can read pass the epiphanies and graphics, the manifesto itself remains a different beauty. Critically looking at the manifesto, one realises that it seeks to reduce the North into a war ridden region, permanently waiting for hand-outs and social intervention. This is indeed not a progressive idea, and given fluidity of insecurity and underdevelopment, any concern person irrespective of where he may come from should be worried.

Before we dive into the manifesto proper, it will be imperative to lay a background.

This administration rolled-out various intervention schemes guised as social interventions. Since that approach, we’ve come to realise it was nested on a grotesque economics that is counter-productive, and utterly malnourished of any developmental idea. Why Tinubu seeks the continue with these steps despite all indices proving failure if we give wider consideration a chance - is very alarming. How can people be denied economic prosperity, courtesy of unfavourable policies by this administration, only for the same administration to come around with a scheme that gives them five thousand naira monthly? How do you allow insecurity to go uncheck, but happy to build shacks for internally displaced persons (IDP), and come around to provide aides and incentives for them – and out of notoriety, count that as an achievement? This is the way we look at all the condescending social policies introduced by this administration. All the internally displaced persons will forever prefer to go back to their towns, continue their day-to-day activities in place of handout given to them by this APC administration. Now, when we look at Tinubu’s manifesto and see ‘continuity’ we see a looming north, strangled – thanks to Buhari ineptitude. And if Tinubu wishes to continue from the latter – it is glaring that the north will bleed to coma given the imbalance and obscene practices that has been rationalised in this administration.

Onto Tinubu’s manifesto. The manifesto made mention of utilising established instruments of government with particular emphasis on CBN, to create suitable incentives for commercial banks where youths can leverage and access loans, in a quest to drive youth-led entrepreneurship. This is contained in the “Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship” section of the manifesto. This sounds like a brilliant idea, only that it is not novel. This is exactly what the CBN has already been practicing, and most of the intervention coming from the FG under this administration follows this exact pattern.

To contextualise the point, recently, the CBN released it first tranche of beneficiaries for a new intervention listed as “100 for 100 PPP” a policy that has been critiqued by this group and nothing has been done so far. Therein, the north has been technically knocked out which we are force to believe is deliberate. From the first tranche of that program, which application processes encapsulate the same format contained in Tinubu’s manifesto, saw that Lagos state benefitted a total sum of 12,760,000,000 billion naira whilst the entire 19 Northern states put together has about N4,500,000,000 billion naira; would this be the type of bias continuity Tinubu thinks the north will welcome again? Any person with contrary view, should properly look at the manifesto and see if there is any difference.

The manifesto went ahead to stipulate other youth economic initiatives, and carefully combing through those proposals – hardly was there any novel and tangible idea that seeks to level-up our economy. It is not news that HQ’s of almost all the commercial banks are not in the north, critiquing any intervention will mean application and selection processes are carried out in a different clime all together, making the process unnecessarily cumbersome for any northerner, hence trimming our chances – this has been the case for all the previous programmes such as the example cited herein. If Tinubu manifesto was granular and honest, these institutional bottlenecks ought to be addressed before we feel we are part of his agenda. The statistics are there for everyone to see. How can my application be vetted by a commercial bank ED in Lagos before I have the approval to start a local business in Kankia LGA of Katsina state for example? How is this fair?

On the issue of security, Tinubu’s manifesto made mention of creating Anti-terrorist battalions (ABATTS), whose objective shall be to seize the strategic and tactical initiative, giving terrorists, kidnappers, and bandits no respite. For starters, choice of word ‘respite’ is alarming, but moving on, the manifesto further stated targeting economic assistance programs in close collaboration with state Governments and expanding emergency and economic support offered to local communities.

Sincerely, the sheer effrontery in this section of the manifesto is astonishing, no mention whatsoever of halting the insecurity challenge, but a great deal into recruiting and adding more military presence across the North just to provide ‘respite’ and providing affected communities with stipends. The plan in a nutshell visualises the north as a war zone and seeks to deepen that.

Furthermore, in the same section, the manifesto mentions strengthening civilian assistance and introducing an outreach arm of the armed forces, i.e., the military will be integrated into these programs. Now this is outrightly a poor plan by any measure. If Tinubu will deploy 1 million Army across the north, peace will continue to elude us, if military presence solves insecurity, the north by now will show some decline. What the north really face is ‘economic exclusion’ orchestrated by Tinubu himself, and since his manifesto is not addressing that, our root problem will remain, and going by Tinubu’s idea of solving our insecurity challenge, I am not sure we will even achieve respite, not to talk of solving the problem.

“Crime is a social phenomenon – both in its causes and its effects – and penal policy must be seen in the context of wider social and economic marginalisation and exclusion.” To solve our insecurity challenge, it will be worthwhile to consider relationship between economic exclusion and crime, and the connection must be examined in a nuanced and unbiased manner. The North aligns with this position. Therefore, any measure that is not seeking to level-up the economy will continue to plunder the economic marginalised section into despair. Tinubu’s manifesto seeks to continue from where this administration stops in marginalising the north, and nest Lagos state with monopoly of economic activity. If this administration has taken time to reconsider northern land border closure, dredging of Baro port, and actual construction of the 3,050 megawatts Mambilla Hydro-Power project at Gembu in Taraba state, chances are we will have a more stable north.

We will advise Tinubu, to campaign on a neutral ground, he owes the north wealth of gratitude for availing him fair chance, even as he looked the other way when the nation’s resources were cornered to his state, he should also expunge himself the entitlement of Northern votes, revisit his manifesto to reflect a level-up economy, as the north is not convinced of any hope in his ‘Renewed Hope’ manifesto, all it sees is eminent collapse.

At the juncture, it will be handy to ask for self-reflection from Tinubu and his camp about some economic injustices perpetuated by his cronies, and if Tinubu is really a friend to the north and a national leader as he claims, he shouldn’t have sit back and watch National resources cornered to one state at the expense and detriment of other parts of Nigeria, and callously seek to continue the status-quo.

Moving forward, Arewa Renaissance group will continue to critique all the candidates, in an attempt to enlighten electorates on who has the best interest of the country at heart.

Come and see Tinubu wonder! Tinubu, the Abracadabra Accountant

In this present world, if you are still making your decision about a political candidate based on what some activists are saying, na you sabi o. In today's world, anything or anybody is for sale.
