The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Thursday, said the Naira redesign introduced by the Federal Government has increased the number of governors on their watchlist.

Bawa made this known to reporters at the State House after meeting with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

While speaking, the EFCC boss declined to speak on the number of governors currently under the watch of the commission.

He said, “Our agency is pleased with the redesign of the naira note because the policy would help the Central Bank of Nigeria control the monies in the system and by extension, enable more money for people to borrow.


“It is my belief (as a student of economics) that the redesigning of the Naira will cause the value of the dollar currently at N890 to crash to N200.

On the sting operations to the Bureau De Change operators, he affirms that the operation was successful and huge recoveries were made.

If this is the right path to toe at this time that the value of naira is depreciating, while the dollar is appreciating, with inflation hitting the roof top and insecurity on the rise coupled with hunger and starvation,high debt profile that may further increase, due to the money that will be spent on redesigning the naira, then, why is the Minister of finance, budget and national planning not telling Nigerians the need to redesign the naira if it's the most needed problem facing Nigeria that needs to be addressed urgently? I am sure that such questions are on the minds of every, well meaning Nigerian? Anyway, i just hope that the economist, Bawa is telling us the truth about having more governors in their watch lost.May God heal Nigeria.

I don't have confidence in EFCC until those former governors that BUHARI granted state pardon are rearrested and DSS should take them back to the prison.These are the politicians who looted our money and later granted state pardon for looting our money.

Kindly bring the deadline closer. Naira redesign is a must and of a great economic imperative.

Good EFCC is widening the net on these alleged corrupt governors, but can this loquacious chairman close his mouth and do adequate Intel to get good evidence to nail the culprits.
