Two communities in Cross River state may soon go to war over the ownership of limestone deposits

There are strong indications that two communities in Cross River State may soon go to war over the recent discovery of large deposit of limestone within the neighbourhood and the surrounding areas. Already, the two communities, Ito and Idere in the Eburutu axis of Odukpani local government area of the state are claiming ownership of the area where the limestone is located.

Tension is heightening as a company from neighbouring Abia State is said to have commenced negotiations with the Idere chiefs towards the extraction of the raw material.
