Am not a lawyer but what type of judgement our judiciary give this days. The case was 2011 , why can't the court jail the former IG in the office then. To teach any body currently occupied any position to know that what they sow is what they will reap.

What kind of illiterate press release is this? A court of competent jurisdiction sent you to prison you said you are investigating the situation. Do they think the judiciary is subject to police internal administrative lapses. No where in the world will a court sentence a man to prison and he will ask the court to wait for him to conduct investigation before serving his prison sentence. Even if he was not the IG at the time the order was made, it is one of the incident of a public office to be responsible for any of it's lapses as the head of that institution. Oga IG, abeg go and serve your prison sentence.

There are two sides to every story. Did you read the story before commenting or reacting or the story does not matter? The information we have is that a court order was made in 2011 and so why is it this IG that should go to jail.

I do not know whether or not the statement is true and so we should ask questions diligently before forming opinions and taking sides

Are you guys ignorant or what?
Occupying an office means you will inherit all that has to do with that office from d day it's created.

He has civil not criminal personal liability
Any liability is a Tort unless it can be shown that he has since resuming office been reminded of the order which is over 10 years old

By your logic he can be jailed for failing to obey an order from 1960

Do we remember how quickly Buhari reacted to the CCT ruling on CJN Walter Onnoghen and replaced him.

Let's he how quickly he will respond to this court ruling and replace the IGP.

So the judge that ruled that the IGP be jailed on contempt is high on weed, that he has no idea of what he is doing I suppose.

You are an extremist with a small brain

Is the judge being high on weed or not knowing what he is doing the only rational explanation you can come up with

On this thread there is a purported explanation . That does not deserved to be considered?

You talk like a fool

I'm of the belief that the case would have been raised before him, prior to this sanction

Just being logical tho...facts/truth don't always suffice in our society in cases like this

You are too dumb and it’s better you shut up than to keep fooling yourself day in day out

Established offices always enjoys continuity , therefore even if he is not the IG when the first judgement was given, it’s the duty of the legal department of the police establishment to brief him of all pending and unresolved matters

And if IG believes in the rule of law, he ought to handle himself over to kuje authorities first before appealing against the judgement or his incarceration

This matter was on the table for a long time but the police hierarchy disregarded it and swept it under until the court pronounce a verdict.....
Why didn't the force legal unit acted promptly n look into he matter then...
I just tire for Nigerian police.
