So after graduating from the university about a year ago i have'nt got a job. I know most of you will say (just one year and you are complaining.) Well it does'nt matter.

All that matters is that one is without a job and it is extremely annoying and life is boring.
You see adverts everywhere of job openings and you wonder if there are just for show or if people are really getting these jobs.
Once or twice you see a testimony on nairaland that someone just got a job and you begin to pray for your own, but these days people hardly even give testimony if they got the job or not.
You wait and wait for a miracle because now your degree does not matter again. If you don't have somebody somewhere, 'na only miracle you go hope on'.

After going through school, burning mid night candles, going for lectures, doing stupid assignments that lecturers never read and struggling to see that your name is on flimsy attendance cheat for ten marks, what do you get?
Answer - A long stay in your fathers house, waiting for when somebody will visit and dash you money. Because your parents do not have your time again.
Most times, you might even here comments like" abeg do go marry" or better still "you no get boyfriend?".
Sometimes you begin to wonder what went wrong but in the end, what can one do but hope for a miracle.

Life is hard o. Especially if you are unemployed and a girl in naija.

It is well, I feel you.
If a lady is saying this then what should a guy say.

Somebody promised me a job he was sure of not giving me but asked me to keep coming by so so time for almost 6 months. Anytime I got there the receptionist would tell me he was in a meeting and the meeting may even last for a whole day. So one day when he gave me his usual appointment and decided to get there as early as 6:30 am and waited at the gate. Immediately he came and saw me, he nearly entered the ground and shouted: "why didn't you allow the day to break now? eh, it's very dangerous moving around in the dark o please". After the drama, he asked me to wait a bit because he was going for an early morning briefing grin till now, he hasn't returned from the "briefing" grin. This case happened in 1998 grin

And he'll not return...lol

I went to a lawfirm in 2020 June to submit my application. The receptionist faulted my 2.2 result and in my presence was throwing my application into the bin. I was shocked and I humbly asked her if I could retrieve it and I picked it from the bin where she had already dropped it. The lawfirm was at sterling towers, marina. That day a tear drop escaped from my eyes and it reduced my reliance on certificates though I am still acquiring more certificates.
I for wait for am outside during closing work hours and wooze am better slap.
I graduated with 3:47, just points behind second class upper.
I nearly kill my project supervisor cos she graded my project with a C and that reduced my CGPA

Gave up on job hunting since 2020 because of many disappointments and discrimination against my kind of person. Thank God for discovering freelancing since 2017. Im now fully engaged in that business as a self-employed.

Although not yet where i wish to be but im definitely better off now than when i put all my trust and hope on getting a monthly- salary job.

theamazonguru:

The funny thing is, different strokes for different folks

We actually see things differently.
When I lost my job in 2012. It was this GNLD marketing Job that came to my rescue.

While people were complaining and cursing them, I saw an opportunity.
As long as their is a product to be marketed there is money to be made.
I took the challenge of doing marketing job for the very first time in my life rather than subject my young family to hunger.

To get started I bought one scanning machine and some products.
The scanning machine was the game changer for me
I had the liberty to charge whatever price I felt, so I charged from 1k to 5k per person.
I went from mechanic workshop to tailors shop to the market to schools, banks and other corporate organizations after sending a proposal to them to come and do a health talk or seminar.
My ability to deliver and sound convincing is my meal ticket or otherwise.

Men and women would queue up to have their body scanned for a token. (1k-5k) /person depending on my estimate of their worth.

I could go home with 10k or 50k in a day most of the days. At least I will go home with something no matter how bad the day went.

What I see is this, one man's food is another's poison. One can choose to turn a messy situation into one's advantage.
That was what I did.
Did I like the work? NO
Did I enjoy it? NO

SO why did I do it ?
I had a family to feed and bills to pay and I was out of job.
I couldn't go about begging family and friends for urgent 2k or come online to shamelessly be constituting nuisance begging every now and then while at the same time speaking Ill of legit opportunities which perhaps I find degrading or dirty.
I would rather do those degrading and dirty jobs than beg.

And guess what, the job that paid me 450k/month came right while I was in the field at one of my GNLD seminar venues.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not advocating that everyone does GNLD or forever living products or any similar ones. However I am saying I would rather do those, if they actually pay and not scam in any way.

This story was over 10 years ago.
I cashed out from it by working hard and not just expecting GNLD to be paying me.

God bless every legit hustler on this street.
I assure you you will be alright.
