Boko Haram Again: A Repeat Of The Coup That Consumed Gen. Aguiyi Ronsi by Nobody: 9:11am On Sep 06, 2011 |
Fuelled by the anger that engulfed the northern military men over the first coup that consumed top nothern leaders like prime minister tafawa balewa, sarduana of sokoto,e.t.c, there was a countercoup that consumed the then head of state gen. aguyi ironsi. The northern military used everything at thier disposal to execute a succesfull coup d"etat that saw yakubu gowon the most senior of the northern military and a junior in the general mailitary becoming head of state. Selfishness, egotism,self- aggrandisement was one of the motivating factors behind all those senseless bloody coups. Suspicion was a key factor that featured in the military institution then. Lack of trust, betrayal, tribalism, sentimentalism were also major factors that characterised the military. They took over power with the excuse that the political(civilian) class was corrupt. There was so much suspicion and fear in the military, that the northeners who have been ruling nigeria in the military regimes made their fellow northerners confidants and higher in rank. This is another repeat of history. The northerners have always seen ruling(presidency) as their birthright. As we all know, it is not easy to take someone else"s birthright and go scot-free, they are re-strategising to claim their so-called birthright. They want to unleash mayhem with their boko haram as a new, civilised and more sophisticated unlike the military coups, on innocent people in these country just to reclaim their so-called birthright. They want to make this country ungovernable for goodluck. They are at it again, Civilian coup. They can do anything, even at the risk of their own lives to make sure they get power. My advice to goodluck is watch your back and be makavellian atleast 80% to sustain your power. |
