She got to the bank and the queue outside was terrible and it wasn’t even dispensing yet people were queuing for ATM that wasn’t dispensing . I told her to speak with the security guys if they will allow her access to the bank , they still denied her access . Eventually she promised to sort one of the security guys at the gate when she is done if she was allowed in the bank. She was finally allowed in and I was happy that the hurdle was over .

She got in the bank and it’s another long long queue , it got to my mums turn and she was trying to withdraw just #20,000 of her OWN money and they told her they can only offer her #5,000 , I was on the phone with her and I was boiling .

The terrible part is that she was NOT given new notes . The #5000 she got were old torn 50 naira notes amounting to 5000. I was screaming over the phone at my mum not to collect the old naira note that it is useless, and then she said how will she eat if she didn’t get the money. I started crying . Like how can you be rich and be poor? How can you have money in your account and it is not accessible?

E no go better for Buhari and every other individual that is supporting this evil government.
If not that my mum is stubborn and doesn’t like to stay here, we wouldn’t have to deal with this nonsense . I just bought her ticket to come here next month and this time she didn’t even argue .

How are you sure you are OK in the first place? Your aged mother is wiser than you at her present age. You were telling your old mother to reject N5000k old notes after all she passed through on queue. You want hunger to kill her before her time? God forbid! She showed great wisdom, endurance and humility which you should learn to emulate. Cursing Buhari over this kind of useless issue is unnecessary, God judges based on motives, he didn't have bad motive to cause pain to citizens; it is lack of patience to follow normal protocols that cause this kind of self-inflicted argony.

If everybody on the queue also pick his/her phone to call bank manager or director for shortcut, no way it will not lead to more pain. You could have sent somebody trusted to go for her and if none of your trusted relative that can go for her is not available; when she was finally attended to, you should be able to control your anger not to pain to cause more pain since she wasn't the only one affected at that moment. So, if you were there physically, will you have gunned down staff officers because of that minor issue? And when you find yourself in the prison, you will now be regretting and blaming devil for minor issue. Many of us saw this day coming and I went on time to search for this money to get it. Two weeks ago, I withdrew 70k at a First Bank ATM in Enugu. I have been interchanging that money with digital payments until it becomes readily available.
