Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced an investigation of Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, an actress and cosmetologist, for allegedly tampering with the redesigned Naira notes, an offense contrary to Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Act, 2007.

A statement released by the agency on Friday, February 3, says Omoseyin was arrested by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission, ICPC, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, following intelligence report.

The 31-year-old was arrested after the video of her spraying and stepping on the newly redesigned Naira notes at a party surfaced online. In the viral video, she was also seen flaunting wads of the new Naira notes.

The suspect was subsequently handed over to the EFCC on Thursday, February 2, 2023 for further investigations.''the statement read.

The agency added that items recovered from her at the point of arrest include a Range Rover and iPhone mobile devices.

The suspect will be charged in court once investigations have been concluded.

I strongly support this move, she should be seriously dealt with, but they need to go far beyond that, anybody that is seen with hug amount of money beyond his legitimate monthly withdrawals limit should be investigated unless if he is a business man/woman. Tinubu must not be allowed to rig this election, there should be security operatives and efcc monitoring him and his cohorts 24/7

I don't understand EFCC again

You arrested someone for spraying and stepping on new notes (even if it's old notes, it's still a crime).

Which one is "items recovered from her house"?
.why do you need to seize her car and phone again? Is this what happens when someone is arrested for a crime or is this how we deal with all criminals?

I think the EFCC and federal government should be ashamed of themselves. Who is arresting the bank managers that are hoarding both the old and new notes? Who is arresting the political stooges that are causing untold hardship on millions of Nigerians by hoarding petrol and currency for selfish political interest?
Now the EFCC want to flex their muscles because a hardworking Nigerian decides to protest against the clueless CBN and FGN in an unconventional way.
Why haven't they arrested the bandit that was flaunting the new currency some days ago and even claimed to have millions of it already stached up?
