The Independent National Electoral Commission assures the general public of a free and fair election by allowing members of the public to view election results through a collation portal called the INEC Result View Portal (IREV).

According to INEC, this was created to help Nigerians see transparency in the collation of election results. The portal can be accessed by visiting www.inecelectionresults.ng to view election results by following the registration steps.

Also, Nigerians will be able to see the results of each polling unit as Election Day comes close. The IREV will also help reduce misinformation from fake news portals on the Internet. It will strengthen the election management process and enhance the system’s transparency.

A transparent election process helps to ensure that the will of the people is accurately reflected. This is why the Commission has resolved to use the IReV portal to upload the Polling Unit results in real-time for the #NigeriaDecides2023 election.

The INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal is not the same thing as electronic transmission of results, though they have affinities. Electronic transmission of election results would entail not only sending data from one point to another, but also the electronic collation of those results to determine the outcome of the election. At the moment, IReV entails online publishing of scanned copies of the Polling Unit result sheets (Form EC8A), which are usually published at each Polling Unit as Form EC60E. Note that the figures in the uploaded result sheets are not collated for the announcement of results. The Collation Process is distinct and by extant laws involves manually recording, adding and announcing results. However, INEC has used IReV to test its capabilities for transmitting election results and other data and has found it to be adequate and secure.

Since August 2020, the Commission has conducted elections and transmitted election results from 20 States and the FCT, covering 27 constituencies spread across 84 LGAs, 925 Wards and 14,296 polling units involving 9,884,910 registered voters as illustrated by the following graphics:

Nigerians are very stubborn set of people!

You were given 3months notice to deposit your old note but, refused believing there most be extension of deadline.

If Buhari like, let him extend the deadline to the next 10years, some people will still wait for die minute.

Is only dull brains that doesn't know that El-rufai is fighting for his personal pocket.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to send bulk SMS to voters that has been migrated to new polling units as well as those who transferred their voting rights to new polling units for ease of identifying their polling units during the general elections. The Commission in a statement signed by the Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said it discovered during the recent mock accreditation exercise that some eligible voters turned up in the wrong polling units. INEC said as a way of making the voting process easier for Nigerians, it created an addition 56,872 new polling units across the country while decongesting over populated ones.

The statement said “arising from the recent mock accreditation exercise nationwide using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), some voters turned up at the wrong polling units. This happened both in cases where voters have been migrated to other polling units by the Commission and even where they voluntarily chose new voting locations during the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). We believe that there could be other voters in the same situation. This challenge must be addressed so that it does not happen on Election Day.

“In order to ease the process, the Commission is sending bulk phone text messages (SMS) to citizens voting in new polling units. Similarly, the register of such voters for each State has been sent to the Resident Electoral Commissioners for publicity, particularly through messages in local languages. Furthermore, the Commission is offering two unique ways by which all voters can locate and confirm their Polling Units before Election Day. This can be done by sending a normal text message or by simply visiting our website. The detailed procedure is attached to this message and also uploaded to our website and social media platforms.”
