We are frequently told to contact human resources if there is an issue at work. "Go to HR" was frequently our first piece of advice whenever we had anything about the workplace.

However, some employees frequently said that going to HR made matters worse. And this usually happens when human resources departments lose sight of their mission — they usually end up hurting rather than assisting their personnel.

Employees are required to act in a way that promotes the organisation while they are at work, but unprofessional conduct contradicts that norm and disturbs the workplace atmosphere. Therefore, it is expected managers to lead by example and inspire their staff to do the same.

If not, employee morale can be harmed by the manager’s lack of professionalism, leaving the employees to start guessing what is and what is not right.

Solutions to unprofessional HR
There are certain broad guidelines that apply, but each organisation has its own set of behavioural standards that employees must abide by.

Read your company’s code of standards to learn its rules before you accuse your management of acting improperly.

Common examples of these acts are trade secrets, aggressive behaviour and bullying, fraud, vandalism, vulgarity, sexual harassment, excessive loudness, unfavourable remarks that could affect productivity at work, unpleasant humour, and disdain for other people and their property are some examples.

So, in some situations, even if you disagree with their personality, they may not necessarily be unprofessional.

In conclusion, before you make any call to superiors, check the employee handbook or corporate policy manual to confirm that your boss’s actions violate any of the standards for acceptable employee conduct at your workplace.
