Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by KunleA2(m): 8:15pm On Sep 11, 2011
White colored cars are not necessarily cheaper (at least overseas). But they are less desirable in Nigeria cos of the environment. They get dirty easily. Rather than the dealer/seller hang on to the car for months on end, they just drop the price for the car not to go "stale" on the lot.

That is why people get a good deal on white cars. If you are buying them overseas the color has no bearing on the price. Some people love white cars (even here in Nigeria  grin )

Funny enough, as dirty as Afghanistan is, they love white Corolla (1994-1998 models)

Some cars actually looks better in brilliant white (Benz or Cadillac  for example)

You can haggle your way to a great deal in Nigeria in white cars. Just don't try it in the UK/US.  cheesy

2003 Model >>>> 100k miles Is a VERY Low Mileage.

At the Industry's Average Mileage, 2003 Vehicle should have 120k miles

Highway Mileage for 2003 Model would start at 150k miles.

Lexus GX 470 is a V8 Powered engine, Proper Highway Mileage would be starting at 200k miles  grin

I think your budget would be the determine factor . . . .
On the mileage, you could get something in the range of 120K to 140K Miles . . . .
State the budget you working with and you could be blessed with something great.

well I drive a metalic white 2008 Range Rover Sport with alloy wills & full loaded. I aint complaining: quite expensive though wink
Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by inspiredm(m): 3:33pm On Sep 12, 2011
Colours do not typically affect the price of brand new cars. However some new cars may be more expensive because the paint used on them is of some special metallic variety - these colours are typically not white.

I do however believe that white used cars in the USA are less expensive than non white cars. Dealers consistently bid less for white cars at auctions than what they bid for non whites, all things being equal. White cars are also generally more difficult to sell particularly in Nigeria, unless one finds a Deep pocket pastor.  smiley

The whole affair is not logical.

I am currently in Kenya and while driving around the city of Nairobi, i noticed almost 70% of their cars are white unlike Nigeria. Upon asking why, i was told its cheaper an easy to wash from dust(i didnt see the rational for this).

@op. White Vehicles are not cheaper on some make. e.g The Arab/Lebanon will make you pay more on white BWW,RANGE ROVER,MERCEDES, AUDI,LEXUS AND JAGUAR. than any other color at the auction here.what im trying to say is luxurious vehicles are a lil more expensive on white color than any other color sometimes.

Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by Fhemmmy: 5:00pm On Sep 12, 2011
White vehicles are never cheaper, as a matter of fact, the price of a ride is never depending on the color . . . . .
Price of a ride depends on the state of the ride

Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by Skii(m): 5:56pm On Sep 12, 2011
Lighter coloured cars are actually cheaper in terms of fuel economy.
They had just ordered new set of cars for some executives in a major oil company i once worked in for my industrial training.
when i asked them why there was no black one. I was giving the reason above.
the explaination? Boundary layer.
Dark objects absorb and retain more heat than lighter objects.this increases the thickness of the film in the boundary layer adding to the resistance the dark coloured moving vehicle faces when splitting approaching streams of air.

light colored cars!!, fuel economy. I doubt that and even if it is,, it is so negligible.
Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by EuroMeko(m): 6:29pm On Sep 12, 2011
White colored cars, generally are cheaper. We are talking about $100 or so not a whole lot of money.

It also depends on the vehicle.

On your Lexus SUV I doubt if it makes that much difference. On Dodge Viper, there is a premium for Red and Yellow.

The last color anyone in Nigeria should  have is black due to the hear retention.
Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by FlyboyZee: 7:08pm On Sep 12, 2011
I actually feel white cars are cheaper than other colours of cars.
In 2009, I bought my wine-coloured (somehow like gold) 2004-model Honda Accord EX Saloon car for N1.85m, at the same car mart, a white car of the same specification was going for about N1.70m, mind you that the white-coloured car had a lower mileage than my car, but I'm scared of white even with my clothes, so I opted for the coloured car instead of the cleaner cheaper one. So, do I need say mo? LOL.
Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by erico2k2(m): 7:10pm On Sep 12, 2011
@OP
you are %100 right, white cars are indeed cheaper abroad,
the colours of cars constitutes the prices on them so is the trim level as well as the interiors.
Even the Insurance also r high cheaper but  and a BIG BUT,this is only true when buying a brand new Car but also can be applied to used ones in some circumstances, colours that recist fingerprints or reveals less fingerprints when you infact touch them are more expensive ie metalic colours.Red/Black/Blue and red cars are more xpenssive.

@chelseabmw. Nice one there. No mind Mr, Cork, he thinks he's in romance section.
Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by Nobody: 7:36pm On Sep 12, 2011
In Nigeria,White cars are cheaper because people tend to avoid such cars no matter their engine and body condition.I think this is because of the false mentality that white cars get dirty quickly and you need to wash such cars every day.
I however feel that white cars show how neat a man is.The ability to keep a white car clean says a lot about you.
I also feel a white car complements your White guinea dress when you attend an occassion.
If your mind tells you to go for a white car, please do not hesitate to grab one, especially with leather seats.
Good luck.
Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by ShipIt(m): 7:43pm On Sep 12, 2011
White cars are usually cheaper, but not by much. Maybe by about $100 dollars or so. The reason is because every car has to be painted with a layer of white paint before other layers are added to give it its final color. So there is a cost saving in the price of the added layers if the car happens to be white.
Re: Do White Coloured Vehicles Cost Less?` by dayokanu(m): 8:21pm On Sep 12, 2011
I heard from a dealer that the colours of cars affect slightly their prices

Some colours are in high demand like Black or white.
