Panic As Nigerians Storm Defence HQs, Beg The Military To Seize Power & Stop Tinubu’s Swearing-In [Video]

Some group of Nigerians on Tuesday stormed the Defense Headquarters in Abuja, demanding the military to seize power in the country and stop the swearing-in of the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A video capturing the incident shows non-supporters of the All Progressives Congress in their numbers, kneeling in front of the Defense Headquarters as they accuse Tinubu of rigging the February 25th presidential election alongside the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Yakubu Mahmood.

The spokesman for the group could be heard saying that Nigerians have rejected the collation of election results that led to Mr Tinubu’s victory. https://ibireport.com/panic-as-nigerians-storm-defence-hqs-beg-the-military-to-seize-power-stop-tinubus-swearing-in-video.

They should have arrested all of them for treasonable felony. Calling for toppling of government is a treasonable felony offence.

It says something about the laxity of the country's law enforcement that these loons not only openly agitated for such an act of treason, but they also allowed themselves to be filmed in the course of it, so confident were they that nobody would ever hold them to account. Calling for the violent overthrow of a democratically elected government is sedition, not some act of "free speech" that should be tolerated.

There is a gigantic difference between protest and calling for the violent overthrow of a democratic government, and these individuals have crossed that line. At the very least they should be immediately arrested and arraigned for treasonous sedition.

You better get ready for President Tinubu's Inauguration go and buy his Photo Portrait for your Office

Don't think if the people hate his emergence this much he himself would enjoy that seat as president.

You didn't see people protesting seeking (indirectly begging ) for congratulatory msgs ? And endorsement of "his" presidency ? ? ?

Nigeria is in big trouble cos there is no way out; Tinubu gets inaugurated and he will be faced with brutal opposition, critics, foreign/local mockery that will undermine his regime; what about the Igbo lions hope and abroad? Unless he does something remarkable to pacify us and give us hope, if not, Tinubu has already failed cos no government can sideline or undermine Igbos and succeed, never.

And then if Obi wins at the court, Nigeria will witness mad riots and destruction of Lagos by agberos and thugs, blood will flow mainly in Lagos and there will be reprisal attacks here and there....El Rufai, Shettima and other terrorists working with Tinubu will reactivate their standby terrorist squad to resume duty.

No nation should pray to be in Nigeria's shoes right now cos its messy cheesy

MC Oluomo was filmed, Tinubu was film asking supporters to snatch power and run away with it, bayo onanuga was brazen with his ethnic bigotry and doubled down on it when confronted. Same with FFK. So clearly no big deal.

These people calling for military rule in the protest are clearly misguided. But I doubt if they have committed treason. They are protesters.

Some of these actions may be criminal, but none are treasonous, and ethnic bigotry, while vile, isn't even criminal. In fact, there is no law against being a raving bigot, as long as one doesn't actually do anything about it.

Unfortunately for them, what you doubt or believe has nothing to do with it. Agitating for the military to overthrow a democratically-elected government is the textbook definition of sedition, and which is a criminal act in any country.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedition

These agitators need to be immediately arrested, tried and sentenced to long jail terms. Nigeria has suffered enough under soldiers who believe they have the right to tell everyone else what to do at gunpoint. You may like what they have to say because you're bitter about losing an election, but your sympathy for these seditionists counts for nothing under the law.

Because sedition is overt, it is typically not considered a subversive act, and the overt acts that may be prosecutable under sedition laws vary from one legal code to another.

What a ridiculous non-sequitur. Standing in front of a barracks and begging the soldiers to seize power is as overt an act of sedition as it gets! Did you stop for even a moment and think before typing out that nonsense?

Think? I posted your link back to you, Obviously, you didn't even read the iink you posted.

Not all seditious act requires prosecution, much less that of justifiably angry, disenfranchised protesters.

If you feel they have broken the law, maybe you need get off your arse and go to court. Your emotional pouting count for nothing.

The laws on sedition do not care how " justifiably angry" or "disenfranchised" some embittered internet ranter may feel the agitators to be. Calling for a coup is a crime against the laws of Nigeria. See

https://journals.unizik.edu.ng/index.php/lrj/article/download/52/52/106

or

https://jurist.ng/criminal_code_act/sec-51

which says
(1) Any person who‐

[L.N. 112 of 1964.]

(a) does or attempts to do, or makes any preparation to do, or conspires with any person to do, any act with a seditious intention;

(b) utters any seditious words;

(c) prints, publishes, sells, offers for sale, distributes or reproduces any seditious publication;

(d) imports any seditious publication, unless he has no reason to believe that it is seditious, is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction for a first offence to imprisonment for two years or to a fine of two hundred naira or to both such imprisonment and fine and for a subsequent offence to imprisonment for three years and any seditious publication shall be forfeited for the State.

Moving on ...
If you feel they have broken the law, maybe you need get off your arse and go to court.
And now you reveal yourself to be nothing but yet another semi-literate with no understanding whatsoever of the law. Individuals don't prosecute criminal cases, the government does - and yes, government prosecution of these idiotic criminals is precisely what I've been calling for.

Again you failed to read your own text.

These are group of protesters. The text from the section you posted said 'person' The law has the choice to include group of persons. But some reason, it failed to do so.

You're free to start a one man protest to arrest the protesters for sedition, since you know more than the writer of the law you so quoted, Mr. Full Literate.
