Hello

Is it possible for Cargill, Archer-Daniel’s-Midland, Wilmar, Bunge and other multinational farming companies founded in Netherlands, Belgium, Canada et cetera to farm our vast un-cultivated land?

the Billions of dollars worth of produce will fetch foreign exchange, employ millions of Nigerians, create jobs, quench insecurity in middle belt and north east with arable lands, and quench inflation of foods.

If it is not possible, is the federal land use act of 1979 enacted by Obasanjo the reason why?

Most of the lands cant be used for agricultural purpose, you'll hardly find tall trees there.. Moreover north produces more than 70% of the foods we are eating in Nigeria, although i also believe they can do far more, same as other regions.

This is exactly what Peter Obi wants to do - put those vast ariable land in the North to good use for industrial scale farming all over the North. The North will not only feed Nigeria, it will feed Africa, and perhaps contribute significantly to global food security

Mugabe was trying to systematically send end the whites domination of Zimbabwe. Almost all land we're owned by whites (minority) and the blacks have to serve as farmhands.

Though some of his policies were disastrous as you pointed out.

I don't think this problem has got something to with the land use act.

The major factor in my view is 1. Insecurity of most remote locations that discourage meaningful investments.
2. Lack of infrastructure; Taraba that you called out has one of the worse terrains and roads in the country. Even with such vast lands, transporting goods from deep hinterlands to towns and major markets is a huge task, this hinders growth in the sector.
3. I don't care attitude: most states in Nigeria (in fact, almost all, forget the talk of northern states are this and that, most southern states - even oil producing ones have no plans and ambitions for improving the state of their infrastructure and the few that do are most atimes enmeshed in corruption, political crises and social vices.

These and others are factors that lead to underperformance in the agric space.

😄

You just have to show it, don't you?

For once in your life, you are attaching something good to Niger and Tchad, 2 countries you've never seen any good in, just to Rob the north of it's shine. God. 😁

Peter Obi's plan was something out of Utopia, it's Alice in wonderland. You will only get excited by it if you know nothing about farming and farming challenges.

As difficult as it is to hear, this journey has to be a step by step one.

Over the last 8 years have, we have witnessed massive resurgent interest in agriculture, forget the social media talk of why high prices still persist, agriculture has taken a top spot in many people's side hustle plans and there has been tremendous progress, but there is still too much room for improvement.

1. Cheaper farm inputs.
2. Security.
3. Infrastructure - roads.

And more.
