Internet fraudsters have targeted at least 7,000 applicants seeking the National Population Commission (NPC’s) ad-hoc jobs ahead of the National Population Census in Nasarawa State.

This was disclosed by the NPC commissioner for the state, Mr Silas Agara, when he appeared on Option FM 92:3 FM Akwanga’s programme, “Matters Arising” on Tuesday.

He said more than 70,000 persons applied for the 15,000 NPC’s ad-hoc jobs allocated to the state.

He said tentatively 70,782 job seekers applied to serve as supervisors and enumerators during the exercise.

He, however, said the number of ad-hoc staff required for the exercise in the state is 7,000 across all the 13 local government areas of the state.

He said the desperation for the limited spaces enabled the scammers to take advantage of the people, noting that over 7,000 of them were defrauded by fake approvals on the internet.

Agara said his office had been flooded by job seekers and their relatives daily over the ad-hoc jobs, while urging applicants to be patient because of the limited space.

He said, “A total of 70,782 applied and what we needed is only 15,000 ad-hoc staffs to conduct the forthcoming census in Nasarawa State”

“In Karu local government area, a total of 18,000 applicants applied and all we needed was 4,000. In Lafia local government area of the state, 11,900 applied, but only 3,000 is needed. In Akwanga, 6,600 applied, but only 509 is needed for the job,” he said.

The unemployment situation in this present APC administration has defeated logical reasoning. This is why it has become very easy to scam desperate youths who are looking for ways to make ends meet. Unfortunately for the youths, another old man will be sworn in on May 29th 2023 to continue from where Buhari stopped. Suffer nor dey tire Nigerian youths ooooo.

The level of unemployment will always feed clients to all these pay-per-interview scammers. Even if Nigeria splits peacefully tomorrow, the level of corruption will last for centuries.

Please, let's b guided. No Administration since NPC and NCNC led government in 1960 has provided adequate employment for Nigerians. It is easy to blame the ruling party. The same people raining curses on APC are the same people that rained curses in Jonathan and PDP. Only Yaradua didn't collect his share of curses and that's because he died before giving Nigerians a chance to serve him his own share. Even if PO had won this election, by 2025, his own share of curses would have been raining on him even more from his kinsmen I'm sure. Every new administration is worse than the last, why do you think that is? I'm 100% sure this Buhari people are cursing would in no time be praised just as Jonathan has been praised for the past 6 years.

It is really unfortunate to be borne in this type of a country....those are 7000 people whom politicians have made living a hell trying to find a way out of their misery but unfortunately, politicians have created another beast called yahoo boys hunting day and night to survive too..

I am always praying and looking forward to the day the oppressed masses in the south will unit with their counterparts in the south, Nigerian politicians will smell
of death.....

The headline is different from the content.

A total of 70,000 persons applied for a job of 15,000. Is that the scam
