Saw these while scrolling through Twitter, why are they leaving empty?

They are being returned. When you import with someone’s container to a country, you pay a deposit for the container incase you don’t return it. The moment you are done offloading the container and you return it to the shipping company, your deposit would be returned to you either in full or part (depending on the agreement you have and your level of violation of the contract) for the containers to be used in another location.

That’s why in Accounting, there’s what is called Containers Account ( which takes care of both returnable and non-returnable containers).
A shipping container is a returnable container while a cigarette pack is not returnable.

Ask people who work for bottling companies etc. they maintain similar accounts in their records. You can return their bottle as a dealer and they will return your deposit in full, if you not break rule o. If na PET bottle and it’s not returnable, you would have paid for the container itself when you are buying the product.

If crude oil were to be shipped in containers then those containers would have been filled to the brim. Lolz
Nigeria is not selling anything to the outside apart from our raw crude oil.

This is a clear prove of that APC's claims of diversifying our economy is a complete fallacy from the pit of hell.

Envy ke? Seriously, whoever is not pitying BAT has a serious problem. Instead of quietly enjoying his grandkids, he'd now be dragged day in, day out, including international humiliations - all definitely shortening his life!

THEY ARE LEAVING EMPTY because U AND I HAVE REFUSED TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX...WE ONLY EXPECT GOVERNMENT TO THINK ON OUR BEHALF. SUCH CONTAINERS WILL CONTINUE LEAVING EMPTY SO FAR MANAGEMENT OF SCHOOLS ARE LEFT INTO THE HANDS OF THESE PRESENT POLITICIAN AND GETTING JOB IS NOT BASED ON MERITS AND COMPETENCY BUT ON POLITICAL INFLUENCES. WE ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE IF THESE ARE STILL IN PLACE.
Sharrap ya there for saying we refuse to think outside the box, with so many seminar advertise here on nairaland for the exportation of cashew to ginger and sesame here in Nigeria, I don't expect containers to be leaving the shores of Nigeria empty.

Some times I dont feel like responding on here, because I am allergic to ignorance.

Do you know that we have been exporting products that have been rejected for not meeting international standards?

Do you know that you cannot just export what other countries do not want or buy in advance?

Do you know that exporting finished products is better and more economical than raw materials in order to prevent deficits?

Do you know that our producers have been using other countries' labels to ship products for acceptability outside Nigeria?

Now that we have established all the things you do not know.. Now, the Fed Govt realizes that instead of shipping raw materials, they can ship finished products, and this is why you have the largest rice mill in Lagos, and the largest storage certification facility being built in Lagos that meets international standard. That is why you also have automated Lekki Deep SeaPort. That is why they stopped Lithium export; now we have companies building battery production plants in Kaduna. Now we have LNG and LNG stations springing up, and also battery powered vehicles. Now, we have vehicle assembling plants that will eventually use Natural Gas and Battery.

We have the population to consume what we produce, and self-sustainability is the first step to a prosperous Nigeria not looking for things to export. Please READ...it is good for the soul.

You said it all and you really change my view on exporting raw agriculture produce from Nigeria instead of the processed one.

Exactly my thoughts too... Imagine Nigeria importing rice while we abandon ours... We call it local... When buhari close the border so we will be force to be productive and we can be forced use things we produce... Then the Nigerian complain comes into play... They shout and complain... Almost Everyone in Nigeria wants to work in an office or travel abroad or scam people.. nobody wants to form except the hausas... And another thing... Don't trust a Nigerian abroad even your family when it comes to money... I wanted to start exporting of HARBS for diabetes which was made by a local woman... I sent it abroad...
The goods was actually confiscate and seized

They sold it and till date no response concerning my money... When I ask they tell me out of everything in the world you want to sell rubbish that has no gain... You actually sold them rubbish, so no complain cause your goods did not meet international standard

so you prefer not mention government that failed to create an enabling environment for production to thrive but prefer to blame importers filling the gap with an alternative. Tomorrow you will also blame people digging boreholes for not waiting for government to provide tap water? FYI PO as government made it compulsory for all tiers of government to use innoson vehicles and Leo Stan ekeh supplied all the computers that was used schools and all tiers of government in Obi 8 years and he paid off all which created jobs for thousands of people. In buhari convoy of thousands of vehicles are all produced by Mercedes creating jobs for Germans with Nigeria tax payers money while tinubu hundreds of Toyota convoy creates jobs for car makers in Japan while his people wallow in poverty. Are you Ok?With this your mindset it’s not difficult to see why most of you wallow in generational poverty. My 5 year old saw what you typed and was laughing.,.please stop quoting me with this your set back Agbado brain because it’s a distraction and I won’t read it…spits

A typical coward…always too emotional 😅
And running away so soon!
This is your best shot at a rejoinder?
This victim mentality of yours is the reason your entire family is living in abject poverty and in despair and in bitterness!

We have the likes of Dangote, BUA, Nord,Mainone, Medallion, Glo, Innoson, Airpeace among others, building/creating/producing things we consume locally and export internationally and are thriving,…but all your VICTIM mentality could tell you is “there’s no enabling environment blah blah blah”.

Sit there and wait for “enabling environment “ to be served to you on a plate before you do something with your miserable life.

Your Innoson example should teach you a lesson. Had Innoson whined and ranted about “enabling environment “ like you’re doing now, there won’t be Innoson today.

Now, I’m reiterating;
Obi the chief importer of finished chinko products we know.

Obi the producer of anything whatsoever; we don’t know.

What has he ever produced in Nigeria?
