Are you an Ajepako or Ajebota? Why do you think you are Ajekpako or Ajebota?
Re: Are you an Ajepako or Ajebota? by naijadiva2(f): 8:51pm On Sep 04, 2007

Re: Are you an Ajepako or Ajebota? by kojeiwa(m): 8:53pm On Sep 04, 2007
You are an Ajekpako if most to these applies to you when in Naija. Ajebota the other way around.

1. If you were born and raised in Nigeria before traveling abroad
2. If you attended a public or government school
3. If you lived as a tenant or in a family old house
4. If you know almost every household in your community
5. If you didn't have a maid, driver, cook and etc. You and your siblings have to share the house work.
6. If you hardly stay home
7. If you grew up only speaking pidgin English or your dialect
8. If traveling abroad isn't a guarantee. You just hope for it
9. Can't just travel abroad just for vacations or general visit.
10. If you bought most of your belongings yourself, or got it free through a relative used, or through Christmas or birthday gift.
11. If you didn't have generator at home growing up. Had to deal with NEPA taking light.
12. Don't have to take permission to leave the house every time
13. If you have to struggle or hustle your way to get rich on your own, not through rich dad assistant or parents inheritants.
14. If you had to hustle to make ends meet

i guess i'm neither.
Re: Are you an Ajepako or Ajebota? by kojeiwa(m): 8:59pm On Sep 04, 2007
@naija_diva

If more than half of those applies to you, then you are an Ajekpako
Re: Are you an Ajepako or Ajebota? by naijadiva2(f): 9:07pm On Sep 04, 2007
but it has to do mostly with the naija way of life. i'm under the american way of life. like for example, its rare to find people in america with drivers, and house maid. in naija, anybody could have one. i wasn't born or raised in nigeria and i always speak english. so some of those lists apply to me from an american stand point and then some of them apply to me from a nigerian standpoint. so i can' t really choose.
Re: Are you an Ajepako or Ajebota? by kojeiwa(m): 9:13pm On Sep 04, 2007
That is why i said if you were born and raised in Naija before traveling abroad and all this happened when living in Naija.

You are an Ajebota.

Most of those thing applies to me, So i consider myself an Ajekpako. I am proud of be an Ajekpako because i tend to

appreciate and value what i have become now and i can talk about what i have been through in the past to get to

where i am now. Ajebota always have opportunity waiting for them, Ajekpako on the other hand, have to go seek for

the opportunity themselves.

O-ri-gi-na AJEPAKO (boldened and underlined) if u know what I mean. Did all of those and many more, your list wasn't even complete, let me help u with these additions:

- No pipe borne water, had to fetch water from the stream/river (Ogun river)
- No gas/electric cooker, had to use kerosene stone (and sometimes firewood)!

The list is endless, quite, quite long.

But now, to God be the glory for bible says 'better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof' and 'do not despise the days of small beginnings'. Know what I mean? grin grin grin
